Perdurian Platinum

Overview

A majority of Perduro's wealth came from the behemoth deposits of platinum group metals such as Rhodium, Palladium, Iridium, and Platinum itself. These minerals have become even more valuable thanks to their use in Meissner Engines. These deposits are why the planets founder, Artosen Khandea II (Digger), decided to establish his companies headquarters on Perduro.

History

While the Platinum group of metals maintained value for its catalytic, electronic, and vanity purposes; the price only skyrocketed upon the invention of the Meissner Engine. Its rarity remained the same however, new planets were often combed first scanned for the noble elements before settlement. It was not until Perduro's founding by Artosen that a massive deposit had yet to be found.

The presence of so much valuable metal in one place instantly placed Perduro on the trade map, like the gold-rush of space, miners flocked to Perduro to join Digger on his venture deep into the depts of Mount Dau-Sajhrashi.

Process

Platinum Group Ore is often difficult to determine just which element is inside.Liquid-liquid extraction is used to seperate the metals from the ore. It is an expensive process, though smithing nanobot assistance is often used to pick apart the ore with a reduced environmental and cost impact. There are twenty refinery mills in the city of Digger's Rock alone. The proximity of the mines of Mount Dau-Sajhrashi, and the space elevator of Digger's Rock makes the refinery location ideal to reduce transport costs.
