Guess what! There's a book now! — (MxM, Thriller, Erotic)

Liroshi

Born in the shadow of Holy Leviathan, Kahukua, Liroshi was offered purpose before she was even born: to protect Kahukua, to scrape the moss and barnacles from its carapace and clear the salt from its pores, to unsure that the land was well kept and its custodian.

The village provides for the leviathan; the leviathan provides for the world.

The Holy Leviathan lay across a furrowing foothills of the moors, roots tapped into a briny subterranean sea and exhaling its bounty as purified mist. Priests tended to its insides, acolytes to its outsides. The pilot was deep within, forever joined into the greater body as an organ.

Death of the Holy Leviathan

For all of its wisdom, Kahukua was not prescient. It presumed the valley it had chosen was safe, and had not realized the weakness of the tectonics deep below. The fateful day came shortly after Liroshi reached adulthood. The Leviathan's roots were shredded by a violent slip-strike in the fault. The ground split, and shifted, and the great beast was smeared along the shattered rift of the valley. Kahukua died. The community faded.

Leaving Home

Heartbroken, Liroshi couldn't even bear to be with her peers anymore. She left her homeworld and went to join the Federation. She seeks wealth — all the security of a leviathan's protection as cold hard cash to send back home to her tribemates.

In order to save on money, Liroshi lived in the commons of her new city, where anyone may set up camp in the rural edge of the terraforming regions. She lived near to the trails, in a hut of wattle and daub she made herself. Her only expenses have been those of comfort and survival, with the occaisional indulgences for hygiene and leisure.

The Millionaires

After enough small jobs, Liroshi's contract manager - Mouse - was able to gather the loans necessary to put her and two others - Kag'gato and J'mak - on a Phase 1 Hab drop to the world of Valoo. They were told that the world was abandoned and that they would be recolonizing it and finding the cause of death.

Little did she know that she wouldn't even be on the ground before plans changed drastically for the worse...

Equipment

Featherstride Boots

Bestowed upon her by the tribe leader. Worn by generations of custodians before her, these boots are designed to help its wearer cover the rolling hills in leaping strides.

Mantid Bow

Created by her Matrar for her Patrar long ago from a pair of their own horns and a living central body. It must be fed daily to keep the bow healthy and supple.

Druidic Cloak

Made by her Matrar, this shapshifting cloak uses Dermal Papillae to act as active camouflage, changing texture and color to match the terrain.

Day 1

The Fall

Sorry Mouse, I forgot to keep a log throughout all of the chaos of the last ten hours or so. You'll have to line up the timestamps with the flight logs.

The landing went right to hell. A storm seemed to rise right from the walls of the valley to meet us. Our pod dropped right into it, knocking us off course and putting us into a tailspin that we couldn't escape until the three of us put our weight into the Hab's tether release.

It took all of use to pull the habitat release, but we couldn't have done it without Kag'gato. The winds ripped us away from the pod and sent us careening off course. We crash-landed into a mossy forest near a lake in the trough of the steep valley, where we were attacked by a giant serpentine beast -- a lamia or naga of some sort. It took a lot of force and a couple of my neurotoxic arrows to the face just to cause it to retreat, and it nearly crushed me in its grasp during the conflict. Thank Sigsalamel that Kag'gato was there.

After, we were rescued by locals, Joe and Tiggy, who escorted us back to their village of Kainga. We were told nobody was here. This adds a complication. On the way there, we were confronted by a pack of Drop Goats, but I dissuaded them from attacking us.

Kainga Village

The Chieftan of Kainga offered us a shelter for the night in return for fetching the doctor from the basement levels of the obelisk ruins Kainga is perched atop of. He also informed us that our habitat crashed into the cliff face far above Kainga, and the rock fall injured a few people. Oops

Down the hexagonal spiral staircase to the lower levels, we saw signs of battle -- wooden and concrete barricades, scorch marks in the concrete. We eventually found a collapsed corridor, and met Ahangi, the town Doctor. J'mak noticed that Ahangi was sitting cross-legged next to a crystallized lower leg, the boot it once wore torn and faded. A divinorium? The remains of a dead god. I recognize such things.

We were treated to a dinner by Chef Third Eye, I shared a pouch of spices in gratitude for him getting up so late to feed us. He served us a Steamed Rutas Bowl of Euphraesthi's Mane with a savory pepper sauce.

Tiggy escorted us to a room set up for us. A trio of cots, none large enough for Kag'gato, and even I had to sleep fetal.

Day 2

They gave us a room in the greathall. Tiggy scir'ra'd off with my Kokobells. He promised to make us some breakfast, but breakfast was conspicuously Kokobell-free.

After that was a meeting with the elders, who explained that our Hab crashed upmountain and caused a landslide on the town. Why would you let a landslide happen? Bad land management.

Their tomato plants don't seem to be flowering. The soil here is perhaps too bitter. I also don't spot any pollenators. They probably have to tend to each plant by hand. Tedious. Unfortunate way to live.

Inbred chickens. That one had three eyes. Ew. All their land gods died. This place has an issue of monocultures.

We took the cliff path and walked right into an avalanche. J'Mak took a rock upside the head and another around a chin. I used some Genazine to cover it. Kagato shared a story about the time he worked in construction and saw a guy take a reciprocating bore to the head, scooped half his skull out and he mostly just lost his ability to do math. Mack seems dazey and freaked out, but I'm sure he can still count just fine.

We found a cliff with a cubby ladder with Coatl living in some of the cubbies. Unfortunately, Kagato didn't manage to grab one.

We finally got up to the Hab. That damn thing is upside-down. :(

Poor Liroshi. The death of the leviathan must have completely shattered her world view.
