Jhoutigari Field Ration

No Army marches on an empty stomach

The Jhoutigari Field Ration is the main military ration for the Pact forces. While each of the Pact Nations make their own field rations, the Jhoutigari Field Ration, also known as the JFR is the most common, especially in zones where the nation of Aempis has control. The JFR contains an average of 5000 calories, a plethora of vitamins and minerals, and stimulants to help aid in high-stress scenarios.

The JFR comes bundled in a sealed pouch. The cloth pouch unfolds into a disposable tray, and refolds back into a pouch for easy disposal or storage. The individual items in a JFR are either wrapped in waxed paper or sealed in lightweight cans.

Centuries Old

The JFR in concept has been around since the Nation of Aempis was founded. The pouches of preserved supplies and meals were critical to keeping Aempis alive. Working so many fronts required giving their militaries everything they needed on a day to day basis in a single package and it had to last.

Constantly Evolving

While many elements of the JFR have remained untouched over time, such as the tan wax paper and sealable pouch, the items within have evolved over centuries of use.

Menu items evolve and shift, incorporating new recipies to bolster troop morale. Certains items are replaced with newer and more efficent variants.

If they ever tried to get rid of the Meyfar from the JFR, there'd be a Jhoutigari Mutiny.

"Is that your first Jefer?" My new Squadmate asked me with his ears perked up.

"Yeah, first time on a front." I replied back, holding the surprisingly light tightly packed back in my hands. I tugged at the unsealing tab, and heard the faintist of hisses as the seal broke.

"Nice, you got a fresh one." My squadmate shuffled closer, I could sense his greedy hands looking to pluck anything I left unattended. "You know it's tradition to let your squadmate have your first Meyfar."

"I may be fresh out of the city, but I'm not stupid." I reached in and pulled out a finger-long sealed tube, and read out the printed text, "Meyfar, Single, Khatoum Cooperative Fields, Yak'koli."

"But, I don't smoke the whole thing, so just give me a puff and I'll be good." I could sense my squaddies grin without looking at him.

The omelet is clearly the worst option here. Tastes like pouki pukie.

Shelf-stable egg product can't be made good no matter the level of orga tech.

What is an 'animal bean'? It seems like a vegetarian dish, so I am curious.   This is fun. I enjoy watching a dude open MREs on YouTube and I wish he could try a JFR. XD

I need to write them now, but animal beans are essentially the somewhat autonomous seedling phase of some Jhoutaioan plants. They are a popular protein type in the Pact!   Also I think I know the dood.   Not sure if you caught the "Nice Hiss" reference in the Aloud.
