Introduction to Eternarii

Eternarii, as far as is known to it's occupants comprises one major continent with two smaller island continents to the North West.

The Contient of Eternarii

The main continent is usually just referred to as Eternarii, which itself is comprised of several different regions.

The Kingdom of Zylor

Established as a Kingdom many centuries ago by the trader come despot, Zylor it's borders ran along the coast of the Circular Sea, around the South-West peninsula, ending at the Forest of Corrilwal and the town of Vinaar this region   The region's main settlements are:
  • Peninyzance
  • Lumtylen
  • Zylor's Triumph
  • Hatel
  • Corrilfall
  • Orconium
  • Uynrin
  • Vinaar

The Iron Mountains

Vast wealth is said to reside in the mines and dwarven strongholds beneath these soaring and snow-capped peaks. While the salt air from both the Circular sea and Wastru's Incursion keep ice or snow from settling on the surrounding foothills, instead creating a largely barren set of difficult to navigate hills. It is said that the very first dwarves emerged from these hills and mountains long ago.   The region's main settlements are:
  • Mardwynn's Shame
  • Settle Shade
  • The Beacon
  • The Exclave

Tranquillity Plains

Legend has it that when Mardwynn, the very first paladin looked out upon these plains resting to the East of the Forest of Corrilwal, she saw a place of pure peace and tranquillity that moved her to pledge her service, life and strength to the crusades of her god. To protect this area Mardwynn build the Gauntlet on the site where she swore her Paladin's Oath; an Armoury to stand watch to the north of the plains; and a temple of pilgrimage, now ruined, for those wishing to pay homage to the gods.   The region's main settlements are:

Forest of Corrilwal

These deep and thick forests create a dreadful sense of foreboding for any not familiar with the ways of the woodlands. It is said that deep within these forests the Elves first emerged descending from the fey creatures who taunt, tease, and trick those foolish enough to enter the woods. Meanwhile at its very heart is the Interloper, a small stand of mountains on whose slopes it is said the first Halflings build their villages.   The Forest's main settlements are known to be:
  • Erwydd Eaves (aka Emerald Eaves)
  • Maren Mellairt
  • Caravii
  • Corriwyn

Sunken Wastes

Beyond the hills to the North of the Forest of Corrilwal are are the sulfuric swamps and petrified forests of the Sunken Wastes. It is said that come terrible catastrophe wiped out all who chose to live on this once stunning coastline. Scholars at the nearby Spire of Scief claim that the very first Human settlement of Nonunig still exists somewhere in the wastes, cut off from the rest of the world.

Unoccupied Plains

In the centre of the continent lie vast and largely empty plains. Few trees or plants grow save the most hardy varieties. With little to no valuable resources it should not be surprising that no tribes, kingdoms or empires ever claimed these lands. Instead parties which to remain neutral from world politics built small enclaves such as the Spire of Scief, and Gefeill.

The Dead Hills

Bordered by sickly looking trees and the vast empty Unoccupied Plains, these hills bring a sense of mortality to the forefront of every sentient creature's mind. It is said that any who venture into these hills risk their very souls. It is believed that the undead stalk the living jealously trying to take from others, what was taken from them.

The Angry Isle

A small island continent to the North of the Continent of Eternarii dominated by thick, black smoke, volcanic ash, and a sulfuric stench few humanoids actually live here beyond the Gnomes who claim this region as their place of origin. The twin volcanoes that dominate the centre of this island are rarely dormant since the rise of the god Chenical. Despite the frequent volcanic activity wildlife does seem to flourish well enough to support several settlements and the unusual, experimental crafts of the Gnomes to live there.

The Arid Isle

The northernmost continent of Eternarii is a place where the sun beats down relentlessly creating harsh, scorching, and arid climates during the day. In the absence of the sun the nights become colder than the highest peak of Ais Abfall. Despite the conditions, vicious wildlife flourish stalking all prey foolish enough to intrude. A land of tombs and nomads little truth is actually known about the Arid Isle by the population of the Continent of Eternarii and so tales of terrifying Chromatic Dragons, and massive feathered and reptilian beasts are spoken whenever the Arid Isle is whispered of.
