Tower Village

Contrary to its name, Tower Village is more of a large town. It is located in Tower Mountain Valley at the foot of Tower Mountain, and has long been referred to locally as "the village"; hence its official name, Tower Village. It continues to be called a village by both inhabitants and others living in the region even though the settlement has been destroyed and rebuilt several times and nothing of the original (actual) village remains.   The circumstances under which previous Tower Villages were destoyed are murky and not well documented. It's widely accepted that in the Age of Salt and Stone, a violent land dispute broke out; that the town suffered a devastating fire some centuries before that; and, much more recently, an accident at the former Tower Village Energy Station a few years after it was built during the Age of Acceleration resulted in an explosion which levelled most of the area.   The modern Tower Village is one of the most durably-built settlements in the Teardrop Sea Islands, probably because of its unfortunate history of being flattened. The buildings are all solid stone with thicker walls and longer foundations than average, and it has layers of town defences including a tall wall. The incident at the energy station resulted in much tighter safety regulations across the Islands, and the new one was rebuilt significantly outside of the town. This resulted in a longer commute for the workers, but the residents of the town feel safer knowing it's not right next door.

History

The land dispute in the Age of Salt and Stone was more of a revolt against the landowner.
