Dakikor Weather Station

Dakikor Weather Station is a long-overdue building project, around halfway to completion. The weather station will be better able to predict the frequent natural disasters which hit the region, affecting the island hamlet of Dakikor most of all.   The hamlet is tiny, currently with only 84 permanent residents, though there are always visitors staying at the inn. It sits on a rock just off the northwest tip of Pagrir, which has a hollowed-out shelter that the villagers take shelter in when a natural disaster strikes. There is usually some damage to the town, but the architecture in the region is designed to withstand moderate disasters and Dakikor is no exception.   Many times, however, the notice comes too late to take shelter before the disaster strikes. On these occasions, people have been seriously injured or died, which shakes the whole close-knit community. Resources and manpower to build a weather station was requested many times of the landowner, but their pleas were ignored until a few years ago when a flaming tempest took the lives of a young mother and her infant. The people of Dakikor appealed to a nearby monarch, who forced the landowner to provide what they needed.   The project has come to a temporary standstill, because of a natural disaster which struck suddenly and damaged the construction, as well as claiming the life of one of the builders. A legal dispute has broken out, and the issue escalated to the Sovereign of the Teardrop Sea Islands, who is expected to order the project continue shortly.
