Sortilege Staff
This potent item allows the user to expend a charge to add 4 levels of any desired metamagic to the next spell he casts, provided that said spell is of level six or less. Unfortunately, activating the staff requires a normal action, hence it usually takes two rounds to cast a spell that is so modified.
(This can also be created as a wand, ring, amulet, etc.)
More limited or lower level (and hence cheaper), or uses-per-day (and hence permanent) versions are also popular.
