Ankirath River

The Ankirath River is a major river in eastern Allethra. It originates from springs and snowmelt high in the Reshdul Mountains, and flows northward, through the Virdare Forest, until finally emptying into the ocean.   A large branch of the river diverts into Lake Amescana, which in turn empties into the Nancona Rill. In the Virdare Forest, two more branches separate from the Ankirath, one flowing westward, the other eastward.   The river serves as a natural border between the country of Barisea and its neighbors, Edrana and Allesend. The Ankirath carves out the Ankirath Rift, which runs from from its first split to just south of the Virdare Forest.
