The Eastern Quarry

Ownership

Owned by the Nisk Family, the Eastern Quarry has been revitalized by the recent discovery of a remarkably large silver vein in the B-Shaft of the mine that extends nearly a mile underground. The Nisk's are quite possibly Nin's most revered family in Nin, due in no small part to the quarry's resurgence.   The Nisk bloodline extends back more than 1250 years to Vigil Nisk, one of the first miners who broke ground on the Eastern Quarry when it first opened. Their extensive knowledge of the mines has made their family indispensable to Nin's economy.  Once an Apostle King attempted to replace the Nisk's in their role as consultants in the Quarry, bringing in outside consultants. The result was a disaster, delays, and the lowest production quotas in the 1500 year history of the Quarry.  Following this debacle, the Nisk's role was secured in a much more permanent way as the family was named council to the king (or queen) in perpetuity.  However to achieve such a lofty rise in status the Nisk's had to forever swear off any potential claim to the throne and pledge their fielty to the role of the Apostle King.  This wasn't much of an ask at its inception as the Nisk's were simply miners with no ambitions for power, however as the years pass and the power of the Apostle Kings waned over the years, many whispers began to take hold regarding the many seats of power the Nisk's were in proximity to.

History & Lore

The mine itself is sectioned into 19 different shafts that each tap a number of different veins that can be found in the shaft.  However, due to the centuries of digging, the mines are now a labyrinth of tunnels and corridors, some leading in circles, others leading nowhere.  It is ill-advised to journey into the mines without either a map or a guide (and usually both) as even the occasional veteran of the mines can get turned around and find themselves lost for days at a time.
