Ownership:
The Drydock of Fathom Sound is where Full Sail University makes its home. The university started off as nothing more than a small shoddily constructed dock. Macht Easterly, a goblin with an uncanny ability to craft and mend sails for boats set up a small shop at the end of the dock and began mending sails for vessels docked here. Word traveled fast due to his skill and speed with which he could get ships back to sea. This became increasingly relevant as the flotilla ships began to succumb to the uncompromising nature of prolonged sea voyages.
History & Lore:
First, it was the sails, then the hulls, then even the decks required replacing. As each job required new tools, a larger dry dock, or increasingly advanced techniques. In order to meet the demands, Macht Easterly held companies and shipmasters' feet to the proverbial fire, charging exorbitant fees to complete each increasingly complicated job. As commerce increased the jobs increased, and after a 3 year boon in business the small dock had grown to a massive seaport with 29 docks, with cargo ports, cruise ports, dry port, and a naval academy that trained shipbuilders, navigators, and seahands.
The flagship for Full Sail Universities is Hope's End, a frigate class with 6 topsides mounted Ballista with bolts weighing in at over 150 lbs. The Hope's End is 1150 ft long with 5 masts and of course, all trimmed with full sails. The Hope's End not only set the record for sailing around the world but also holds the distinction of being the longest crewed vessel in history.
