Copperbane

Botanist Findings:

The flower, when cooked properly with a proper solvent gains an acidic property most useful to blacksmiths and metallurgists (and occasionally rogues). It has a number of uses for trade professionals but it can also be weaponized and if handled properly can be used to coat a non-metallic weapon giving it an acidic damage property. Though it does take a skilled hand at botany and herbalism to work with it successfully doing so comes with great benefits.   Though what its most known for its acidic properties the Copperback Beetle which makes its home in its flowers deserves attention as well. This species of beetle has evolved to both live in and survive on the Copperbane flower. That evolution process has made its saliva acidic, which is why when the flower pops up around cities it is burned. In UE 643 a swarm of Copperback Beetles decimated the dome of The Guilded Reserve causing more than 6,000 GP worth of damage.

Horticultural Findings:

Domestication is possible but many large cities is outlawed dues to 1) the high amounts of metal throughout the city and 2) the invasive nature of the species.   The Copperbane plant is a vined plant with a goldish-orange color. It is a subspecies of vine that propagates in forests and jungles. This flower blooms in the wild only in the summer and in heavily forested areas. The vines that they grow on are quite invasive but develop a symbiotic relationship with the fauna around them.

Herbology:

The flower has few medicinal uses. Both the flower and the blood of the Copperback beetle are toxic when injested and acidic when processed in strong alcohol or ale.
