  Mines that have run dry some time ago seemed to serve no purpose aside from a tourist attraction. A great many goblin families built vocations around it and empires from it. The mountains of gold and silver that sat under Hatchetwinks bought the Goblins a place in a world that would have seen them be outcasts.   Canyon Valley Mining is one of the older businesses in Hatchetwinks, the mines extend for miles east, under the city nearly reaching the Dohars Mountain range. The gold ore vein was declared fully tapped 15 years ago, with the silver ore vein running dry 7 years later. The iron vein isn't quite tapped yet, however, the goblin that used to mine it no longer finds it profitable leading to the last vein being closed 2 years ago.  

Ownership

  The mine is currently owned by Badwig Grosse having purchased Canyon Valley Mining after they closed the last operational mine 2 years prior.  Since then he has done very little with it aside from optioning gnomish excavation and the research teams. No one entirely knows what the gnomish crews are searching for, but their patronage seems to be the only way to keep the mine marginally profitable.
