Balore Military Complex
History & Lore
The Balore Military Complex is affectionately known as the Green-200. A 3 mile-long stretch of plateaued land filled with dense jungle forestation. This stretch overlooks a corresponding 3 mine stretch of beach which, due to Evergreen Deep's jagged and rocky shoreline, is the only truly accessible spot for a sea-based invasion. To defend it, the Taxbaxi Arms built 200 ballistae and lined them strategically at the treeline. The Gnomish Council made a clear error of judgment when gauging Evergreen Deep's viability for colonization, sending a force of 300 Irradeascents to storm U'Varya Beach. Upon landfall, their advance was greeted with 200, 10-pound bolts loaded into each of the 200 ballistae and aimed at the shoreline. A tenuous standoff occurred for 36 hours. Despite the Gnoish forces sending emissaries to discuss terms, no discussion ever took place as the one-word message the Tabaxi intended to convey was direly clear. 'Leave.' The complex itself was built in a similar fashion to the ruins, large columns of marble and granite at each corner of the building tri-ovular building mirror the Trinastic imagery found in the ruins. As such the number three is seen as divine providence to some Tabaxi and an ominous warning to others.Military Chain of Command
While the civilian side of the Tabaxi culture runs through the Balore Tribal Center, when it comes to matters of state and foreign affairs the military wing (housed in the Balore Military Complex) is in command. Divided into three distinct units, the front guard is responsible for an extensive network of diplomats, spies, mainland outposts, and military escorts of the Old World Artificers. The rearguard is responsible for any and all security measures of Evergreen Deep and is highly secretive. So much in fact that even their numbers are kept a secret but some believe it to be as many as 1 in every 6 Tabaxi in Evergreen deep holds some position within the rearguard. The Arms division is responsible for the acquisition, upkeep and distribution of weapons on the island.
