The Order of Sobek

Sobek was associated with fertility, and military prowess, but served additionally as a protective deity with apotropaic qualities, invoked especially for protection against the dangers presented by the waters of Esparea Sobek is, above all else, an aggressive and animalistic deity who lives up to the vicious reputation of his patron animal, the large and violent Dire crocodile. Some of his common epithets portray this nature succinctly, the most notable of which being: "he who loves robbery".   However he has also been known to display grand benevolence. It is from this association with healing that Sobek was considered a protective deity. His fierceness was able to ward off evil while simultaneously defending the innocent. He was thus made a subject of personal piety and a common recipient of votive offerings, particularly in the later periods of Kesh'mhettite history. Sobek has remained relevant to this sect of Kesh'mhettites since the days of the great lake. Unlike the sun worshippers who moved inland the Sobekian Kesh'mhettites increased their worship and reverence for Sobek. They moved to the coast and began to live off the coastal waters of the western desert. Staying true to themselves these people have both strong military and rewarding trade bonds. Though they do value diplomacy those who follow Sobek will fight to claim what they desire no matter the means.
