Ra-Horakhty (Ray-Whore-Act-Tea)
Ra-Horahkty is the god of life and light.
His symbol is a solar disc encircled by a serpent
His followers are known in Esparea as the Disciples of the Sacred Light.
Worshiped primarily in Kesh'mhett, Ra-Horakhty was not the original god of this region.
He rose to reverence in this area only after the great receding took place as the people looked for some reason or intelligence in the drastic changing of their homelands and way of life.
Ra-Horakhty is identified as a god with a human body and falcon head who wears a crown in the form of a sun disc surrounded by a cobra.
The daily rising and setting sun offered tangible evidence of the sun's power to fall into the western sky and be reborn each morning in the eastern sky.
Ra-Horakhty brought the concept of Maat the principle of truth (Right) and balanced justice to the Kesh'mhettites
Just as Ra-Horakhty overcame his grandfather to become the sun god, so to did the Kesh'mhettites transcended their life of water faring and became of people of fire.
They value justice and life equally.
Offerings of red wine, incense, gold, and fruit are made to the god at opulent golden shrines
Fun Facts
It is believed that the disc of sun that Ra-Horahkty carries was once a living world of its own.
In an attempt to bring the people of this world fire the world was accidently consumed by the godly flame and would never stop burning.
To prevent the same fate befalling any other world Ra-Horahkty swore to carry the burning planet on his back as proof of his failure and his burden.
It was called the sun because it was birthed by the failures of Ra.
This sun now provides the fire that was intended for the fallen world.
However should Ra-Horahkty ever fail to carry his burden this world as well would burn and be added to the burden or Ra-Horahkty
Ra-Horakhty is the leader of the Pharaonic pantheon who controls the solar barge as it travels across the Astral Plane. Originally Horus, he fought his Uncle Set for control of the pantheon after Set killed his father Osiris. After winning the battle he fused with his great-great-grandfather Re and ascended as the ruler of the pantheon.
The central Kesh'mhettites believe that during this period Ra-Horakhty had to put down the sun in order to battle his uncle, this brought the sun so close to Esparea that it dried up the lake on which they once lived. Seeking a reason and a relief for their suffering the central kesh'mhettites began to worship Ra.
It was not until several centuries of worshiping Ra that the climate stabilized and the water stop disappearing.
The kesh'mhettites believed this to be a result of their worship strengthening Ra and allowing him to become Ra-Horkhty.
They maintain fanatical worship of Ra-Horakhty for fear that if he were ever to put down the sun again Esparea would be consumed in eternal flame and becoming the new burden that is the disk of the sun.
