The Chamber of Torment

The Chamber of Torment is located on Avernus, the first level of The Hells. To the locals this is considered to be a sinister and sadistic place.
If a devil or demon find themselves inside the cool chamber, they are aware they have displeased their Master.
People who have died and been sent to The Hells for punishment rarely find themselves in The Chamber of Torment. Only those who are nasty and dislike other people, come to be in such a place.

There is no Iron Maiden or other torture devices. It is ten degrees cooler than the rest of Avernus, with smooth walls and a noisy bubbling brook and nowhere to 'hide'.

What disturbs those trapped in the chamber is the 'Others' - the ones who serve everyone. It is like a bland and brightly lit Teahouse. The furniture is comfortable although just so slightly itchy the longer sat on.

The Others are so overly helpful, extremely cheerful, dripping with concern, empathy and loud niceness.
The Others encourage loudly with chants, positivity, cheerful phases and admiration - telling someone "you can do it" - when for whatever reason it is impossible to do in the chamber.
Yet when someone could do it for themselves, the Others take over - from helping someone sit down, to cutting up food in tiny pieces, to eating the food very loudly. Some of The Others snore, snort, or sing badly when left without someone to 'help'.
Food smells sweet - given one bite, then whipped away. Drinks are lukewarm - yet no one gets more than a sip.
It is a busy place. No one is left alone four a moment.
Anyone placed in there cannot leave, forced to smile all the time and talked at constantly.
