Eldur Peak

Eldur Peak is located within the Bolgree Mountains, in Kutloc. The mountain range is considered remote and hard to access, due to how high and difficult to climb all the mountains actually are - plus being close to Labés City, which so few people wish to visit.

The top half of Eldur Peak looks unlike the rest of those in the Bolgree Mountains. It does not have the transition from trees to loose shingle to a snow cap. Instead it looks spooky and barren with the ground blackened from fire. Creepy, hollow, burnt and fallen trees are dotted up the peak. Rocky outcrops, chard heavily from reoccurring fires. The outcrops are rumoured to hide the cave of a pair of gold Dragons, which are said to live on the mountain.

Some new growth sometimes appears amongst the dead trees and burnt grass. Then there will be another huge fire. No one cane say why it starts. It appears to originate from above the rocky outcrops, close to the top where an oddly hardy Chestnut tree still surprising remains. The tree looks so blackened by fire, ash and soot. Yet there it stands with four branches outstretched. A bird must nest in that tree, for one Aasimar told me, they only once dared to fly up there. It must have been just after a massive fire. The Aasimar said, there was a large nest resting in the branches, while the base of the tree was still in flames. An ugly chick sat in the centre of the nest, looking quite bald and boney. The nest must be protected by some Types of Magic not to burn.

Show spoiler
The nest is that of a Phoenix. There are only four in all of Esau. When one is near the end of their life, they all return to Eldur Peak to celebrate that life. When the Phoenix finally dies, it lies in the nest. The large bird bursts into huge flames and is gone - it's life ends in a show of flames and combustion. The ash and soot swirl together - an orange egg with red lines on it, appears in the nest. The other three Phoenix take turns to sit on the nest, and then remain close by, to take turns to feed the baby bird when it hatches.
Occasionally, if injured one of the Phoenix birds return to the nest, to rest and heal.
