The Sunlit Campaigns
In 981 SE, the Empire launched the Sunlit Campaigns, a series of invasions aimed at breaking Lunar resistance and claiming the eastern lands for Solenara. The campaigns were characterized by their ruthlessness and religious zeal, with Imperial forces burning villages, executing suspected heretics, and desecrating Lunar shrines to demoralize the Covenant’s defenders.
Key Events:
- The Burning of Starfall Hollow (988 SE): An Imperial force led by Grandmaster Rhaegor Durnhart razed the Lunar sanctuary of Starfall Hollow, killing its priests and defiling the sacred pools. Survivors spoke of spirits wailing in the mist for weeks after.
- The Siege of Moonshadow Forest (995 SE): A six-month campaign in which the Empire attempted to root out Lunar enclaves hidden beneath the forest canopy. Despite heavy losses, the Covenant’s nature magic and guerrilla tactics forced the Imperial army to retreat.
