The Grandmaster is the supreme commander of the Solari Templars, the militant holy order dedicated to Solenara, goddess of the Sun. While subordinate to the High Cleric in spiritual matters, the Grandmaster operates as a semi-independent military and religious authority, especially in times of war, crusade, or internal strife.
Appointment
- Chosen by conclave of high-ranking Solari Templars and confirmed by the High Cleric.
- Typically a veteran commander with decades of service and proven piety.
- Often remains in office until death or retirement.
Duties
- Military Command: Oversees the training, deployment, and discipline of the Solari Templars across the empire.
- Custodian of Relics: Has sacred custody over relics such as the Blade of Saint Aureth and the Censer of the Dawnfire.
- Voice in the Sunfire Council: While not a noble, the Grandmaster holds advisory privilege and may vote on matters of war and faith.
- Guardian of Orthodoxy: Enforces religious conformity within the military and purges heresy among the ranks.
- Overseer of the Bastion of Faith: Commands from the great fortress-temple at Ironwatch, sharing a critical strategic position with House Caelanor.
