The Elves

The Elves are an interesting race, tall in stature, wise in knowledge, yet proud, and regrettably, sometimes arrogant. Yet with these traits, they are one of the strongest of peoples among Erthae.
— - Iskelias Varous, in the Codex Erthae

The Elves are one of the four races created by the Eternal One in the first days, and are, as Iskelias Varous describes, an interesting race.

The first Elves were created by the One and were established in the Isles of Fae. They advanced quickly, becoming one of the strongest civilisations in all Erthae. Then, in 23 AE ( Age of Establishment ), King Aerold Calsori established the Calsorian Empire, which at its height, encompassed all of Erthae.

Yet the Calsorian Empire could not efficiently control or protect such vast land, and due to overextension, they fell in 299 AE ( Age of Establishment ), giving way to the Age of Resolution. With the outbreak of the Great Struggle, in which the Polarisians and Arcans broke free, the Elves retreated to the Isles of Fae, and remained isolated there for centuries.

However, with the outbreak of the Great War, the Elves were once again called to action. Perous Calsori, a distant relative of the great Aerold Calsori, called the Elves to war once more. The many legions of elite Elven warriors wrought bloody defeats upon the Kaorhhis forces. Unfortunately, this was not enough, and alongside the other armies of Erthae, were pushed back to the Rynusian mountains, the last barrier to the Andorean Heartlands, the last free land.

As the Rynusian Mountains Campaign progressed, the Fifth Legion, under the direct control of Perous Calsori, played a key role in the Siege of Rynus, relieving the defenders after a three week-long siege. However, with the arrival of Greark Warlord Séaith'lekos, the defenders had to withdraw from the mountains.

With the Siege of Maredrath, the Fifth Legion was left alone to defend it, alongside local militias and the Seventh Cohort of Maredrath. Despite being hopelessly outnumbered, they were able to hold out long enough for Kassius Andrion to reinforce them.

In the fateful Battle of Andriath, the Elves made up the left wing of the remaining forces. When battle commenced, the Elves crushed the Kaorhhis left wing, but were met with the arrival of the Greark cavalry, causing a stalemate. When Kassius Andrion began his fateful duel with Alkcaer the Infamous, the Elves provided a distraction, luring the Greark cavalry and Kaorhh'loa Ik'nis to the River Vainet. This was a costly manoeuvre, and Perous Calsori gave his life in the battle, and many Elven warriors fell. But due to the Elven sacrifice, Kassius was able to strike down Alkcaer, but lost his life in the process.

In the aftermath of the Great War, the Elves again retreated to the Isles of Fae, to heal their wounds and rebuild. In the current age, they remain isolated, though some Elves remained in the rest of Erthae after the war, and have intermarried and established themselves in their new homes.
