Zeroth Dynasty

The First Emperor of Thiselwood - Zeroth Stormleaf commanded an immense and powerful army, which saw the Elves conquer almost the entirety of the continent of Azith. Through his rule, they established what came to be known as the Zeroth Dynasty - his plan to ensure that his bloodline would remain on the seat of power and would rule over Azith, creating a land for the Elves.   Emperor Zeroth ruled for hundreds of years, and under his rule, any who opposed him were banished to the frozen island to the Northwest. Those who were sent there were mostly races with whom the Elves did not co-operate - Dwarves, Gnomes, the more nomadic races such as the orcs and the Goliaths.   His son, Mar'tell, began to make a name for himself as the one member of the family who cared about the other races. Whilst his father waged war on other continents and vehemently defended the Elven nation of Azith, Mar'tell often travelled, lived with the other races, visited those who had been banished to the Halidore Isles to learn of their hardships and their pain. When Zeroth passed, Mar'tell took to the throne. He opened the borders of Azith once more, created peace between Azith and the other continents, and allowed for diversity to rejuvinate the continent. He allowed many of the cities and settlements within the continent to back out of the rule of the Dynasty should they so choose. This era of peace and prosperity earned Mar'tell his place in the history of the world of Erroth, but not everyone was pleased with him.   A still unknown, unnamed group conspired against him however, and plotted first to overthrow him. When that proved unsuccessful due to the love and respect the people of Azith had for him, they turned to other means. In the 4800th year of the First Era, a group of assassins snuck into the Guilded City of Thiselwood, capital of Azith.   They made their way through the city, charming the townsfolk with Enchantment magic and reached the Royal Palace, whereupon somewhere between 1-3 (the numbers are unknown as all witnesses were killed) stormed the palace and detonated large-scale fireballs within the throne room, killing everyone inside including Mar'tell, and destroying much of the palace.   Word reached Thar'itath, brother to Mar'tell, on a diplomatic mission to the continent of Faltiss. He returned home immediately and aided in the effort to rebuild the grand palace. It was restored, and a motion was put forward that henceforth the continent would be ruled by an Emperor not only of the Zeroth bloodline, but one who was accepted by all the nations under the Dynasty's hold. Thar'itath ruled for many years fairly and justly, and his children who came after him followed from his teachings. The current ruler of the Dynasty since 2E3500 is Emperor Leoric Zumalyn, a distant descendant of Zeroth Stormleaf. The War of the Gods and his rule have brought a return to harsher times. The capital is somewhat elitist and shuns those who aren't Elves, and the nearby Elven cities are much the same.
