Upon her mortal demise, she transcended to the realm of Stygion, domain of the malevolent death deity, where the vile god Nocturnus reigned supreme. Impressed by her indomitable spirit, Nocturnus bestowed upon her a divine form and named her Nocturna, making her his consort in the dark realm.   Yet, Nocturna harbored ambitions far beyond mere servitude. Through cunning and guile, she plotted to usurp Nocturnus' dominion over the shades of mortals. With calculated precision, she orchestrated the liberation of countless souls, stripping Nocturnus of his power and instigating his downfall. In the ensuing conflict, Nocturna emerged victorious, casting down Nocturnus from his lofty throne and ascending as the new deity of death.   Having seized control of the realm once ruled by Nocturnus, Nocturna shed her mortal identity, erasing her true name from the annals of history and ascending as the enigmatic and omnipotent deity known as The Ebon Mistress. Disdainful of the malevolent associations of Stygion, she unmade what was, using it to forge her own realm within the depths of the Planar Shadow, where she reigns as the sovereign mistress of death and the keeper of souls. In the shadowed expanse of her domain, she guides the departed with a steady hand, ensuring their passage into the afterlife with solemn grace and unwavering resolve.
