Feast of Fish, The
The Feast of Fish is a simple ritual consisting of catching a very large amount of salmon and feasting upon it. During the early days of Temmie Village, there was not much food to go around, because of the fact the climate was too cold to grow crops, even during the summer months. Because of this, The Feast of Fish was an important holiday as a large amount of available food on that day was very beneficial to the village.
History
The tradition traces back from before the birth of Bob, which was the beginning of the age of enlightenment. The holiday was a hunting celebration where the uncivilized tems in coastal tribes would hunt swaths of merfolk for a gluttonous feast. After the age of enlightenment and the settlement of Temmie Village, the gruesome practice was abandoned for the more morally righteous approach of catching salmon from Tem River.
Execution
The tradition is mostly a sport now, and from sunrise to sunset teams of six will compete to catch as many salmon as possible. All of the fish caught that day will be eaten in a feast sometimes lasting for several days straight. A week of fasting is required before participation in the competition. Magic is permitted, though spells that affect an area are not permitted.
Components and tools
Some sort of fish-catching weapons must be used for it though some simply dive into the river and catch the fish with their teeth.
Participants
Referees are needed to make sure no cheating happened, and each team that participates must have a maximum of six teammates.
Observance
The sport is directed in the middle of Temmie Village in Tem River.
