Hags are a Problem

Thirteen years ago, the lands around Waeric suffered a strange mystery. The first girl born each month disappeared three days after she was born. The baby was always returned within a week of being taken, seemingly unharmed. At first, folk thought it was a coincidence. When the sixth girl was taken, folk became frightened. By summer's end, the Thane of Waeric formed a band and hunted the fae through the region, seeking to kill whatever was taking the children.

The hunt killed many of the local faes and brought down the wrath of several Druids from the Circle of the Hidden Leaf, but the children continued to be taken. Eventually, people became used to the idea and just went about their lives.

13 years have passed, and it seems whatever mischief was started has begun. The first girl taken, Arlenda Nia, killed her entire family on the night of her birthday and vanished into the wilds. She has not been seen. As the second girl's birthday approached, people began to fear what may happen. On the night of her birthday, Celia Donnia killed her whole family, and their farmhouse burned down in the process. She has not been found.

Now, it is a week until the third girl's birthday. The new Thane of Waeric, Creda Becumma, has ordered that Inne Bega be brought to her hall in Waeric for safekeeping and has sent out for help.
