Valleyfair Wine

Drink to Sweet Memories

"Carrying Valleyfair is a tricky affair, and not just a catchy rhyme for us traders to keep in mind. No matter how many casks or cases we take with us, it's gone far too quickly. This is how you get rumors of price fixing, even if we drop the price to a handful of silver coins."
— Aradell, Caravan Mistress
In western Rhyliss, the climate means there is an ample amount of land used for vineyards and grain fields. Most of what is produced is actually sent to other parts of the empire, sold to merchant caravans specializing in foodstuffs who have the means to carry perishable goods for long distances. What can't be sold is often turned into other goods, leading to the Western Province being colloquially called the 'Vinland Provance'. Wine is one of the more notable exports from the province, with white and red wine being produced by nearly every settlement. Few wines have achieved the legendary status of Parselian vintages to collectors, but among most citizens of the empire the Vinland wines are known to be reliable in their quality. One specific product which is almost always in demand year-round: Valleyfair wine.

A light and sweet red wine, it is officially called "Valleyfair Blushing Bloom" by the estate which makes it. Since other styles of wine made in Valleyfair are not as popular, over time it became known as "Valleyfair red wine" and then eventually "Valleyfair wine". The taste is said to be sweeter than most other wines, and is not as strong, lending it to being easy to enjoy for many. The village of Valleyfair reserves the bulk of their vineyards for the type of grapes which make 'Blushing Bloom', and are careful to produce it so traders can pick up shipments at nearly any time of the year when the frost is not keeping things quiet over the winter. Due to these efforts to keep the wine available during much of the year, and the popularity of a wine which is easy to drink on its own, households across the Empire often have a few bottles which are used when hosting guests or serving major meals.
