Southwestern Continent

The birthplace and home of the dragons of Erina, and Southwestern continent is a place of constantly shifting magic. As the four Elemental magics pour out from the Realm Tear, it influences not just the immediate area around it, but the status of the entire land mass. No Elementals live on the continent long term, instead it’s only inhabitated by the Dragons, who either move around to the pockets of preferred habitat that remain as the climate shifts, or migrate further to the other continents, or to other universes.

During the summer Fire magic takes hold, turning the whole continent arid with constant eruptions, while during the Winter Ice magic is dominant, plunging the whole place into a freezing winter. Swamps and rock formations of Earth magic take over during the fall months, whereas the pouring rain and massive storms of Lightning magic signal spring time. One would struggle to truly build any permanent structures here, minus those built within naturally occurring formations like caves. Hence, why the more permanent resident dragons try to take over any they can for their nests to lay eggs, since these are some of the few places protected from the magical influence above them. Others take advantage of these changes, returning from other universes where they are able to live in more mundane environments without as much compoetition, but returning to lay their eggs.

Areas closer to the realm tear tend to remain the wildest, and unconnected from the seasonal shifts. Stray too close, and these areas are constantly changing, but within a certain range, one could almost find a small patch of stability. These stable patches are well contested by the largest, and elder dragons. Those of the unbonded dragons, since they are significantly larger than those bonded to Elementals, are often forced to take up residence in other Universes, with only small trips back to Erina to breed unless they have one of these spots. Unlike the bonded dragons however, their size and superior lifespan allows those that have claimed these stable spots to horde them for centuries.
