Nature's Chosen

For when she is born, she will bring forth the delight of our Mother's. They will exclaim with joy, "Yes, this one is ours!"
— An excerpt from the Prophecy.

The Nature's Chosen Prophecy is many centuries old, first written down by a Spiritualist who claimed to have a special connection to the Mother's that allowed her to hear messages of what was to come. This Prophecy was not her first, and since she had gained the respect of her community, it took little time for it to be spread far beyond. It has remained within the popular knowledge ever since, often perpetuated by differing Royal families when a Nature Elemental is born to them. While many novels, shows, and plays have been made, it is generally considered a piece of Royal propaganda, and these stories are often influenced by those in power.

The Prophecy

There will come a time when the continued existence of the Elementals will be in question once more. Forced into fighting enemies lurking in shadows, and those that wear the faces of friends. Holding the line against those that were once neighbours. Kingdoms will fall to the darkness. War's ugly face will turn to a twisted smile.

But fear not, for a saviour will be chosen by nature itself to aid us in our darkest hour. From the darkness and the pain, the endless suffering and the cold stab of death, shall come our chosen. She will be born, wrapped in a cloak decorated in Gold. To see her is to see a burning ruby armed with steel that shimmers like obsidian. Shinning like an amethyst bordered by darkness, her family name will be carried through the generations. Whispered with both fear and awe. In her, you will find the deep blue sky, bordered by the flames, held up by the earth, and touch softly by the snow. She will come into Erina with a power naught seen before, of which you will both scatter away from its startling strength, and feel the need to get closer. From a great battle she will emerge, known for exactly who she is. For when she is born, she will bring forth the delight of our Mother's. They will exclaim with joy, "Yes, this one is ours!" From them, she will be blessed with power beyond this plane, and marked by the Rune's of our Mother's upon her crown.

Nature's chosen will lead us against the darkness with a skill far beyond her years. A savant in the art of war, tempered in kindness and her focus to protect those that stand alongside her. The traitorous neighbours will run in fear, for her family name carries the weight of her abilities. She will forge alliances with all those that are the Mother's children. With the love of all of her followers, and with a great willing sacrifice, she will bring an end to the conflict. Once and for all.

As Propaganda

The most common interpretation of the Nature's Chosen Prophecy is that it refers to a Nature Elemental being born to a Royal family. Such an interpretation is incredibly beneficial to those wanting to improve their reputation. It's not usually hard to spot, but since the various stories all tend to lean this same direction, repetition often leads to something appearing like a fact. Over the centuries of the myths retellings, most have become disinterested in any Royal family that claims that the Nature Elemental born to their family is the Chosen. They often try to mimic the lines, placing rubies, obsidian, and amethysts around the infant, so that if they turn out to be a Nature during their Awakening Ceremony, then they can retroactively claim they were correct.

Still, most would either tell you that the whole prophecy is fake, or that the Chosen will obviously be a Royal and that it's just a matter of time. Others are more neutral, knowing that they likely will only know if there really is a Chosen after the rest of the events of the tale have occurred.

Rare Retellings

Differing versions of the tale are often suppressed, either by active manipulation, or by the public opinion regarding how the story is told. But others still survive, though rarely found. Perhaps the most common, but also the one that is most likely to be silenced artificially, is a tale that suggests the Chosen is not born into her cloak of gold, but rather earns it. Surviving through great hardship, watching those she cared about die, before discovering her potential by chance. Bringing forth an impossible victory, where she probably shouldn't have been in the first place. Only then is the Chosen declared as such by the Mother's, who bless her with her new abilities that have never been seen before.

This interpretation has merit in the original, as it clearly states that the Mother's bless the chosen. While the details of the spell, the Royal's Blessing, are kept secret from anyone outside the Royal families, it is known that the spell can only be preformed on someone who is not a Royal themselves. This added detail is why this version of the story is most likely to be banned, or at least dismissed.
