Chaos Magic
Long mistaken for the devastating burst of energy as Fire Magic consumes Ice Magic, a new unique phenomenon was waiting to be uncovered...Pure Chaos magic is not considered a 'naturally' occurring Magic in Erina. Instead, it has its origin in the explosive reaction between Fire magic and Ice magic, common enough to briefly be viewed by those that watched as an Ice Elemental was reduced to a puddle by a Fire.

However, when it came to being used, or having influence over a location like the four Elemental magics did, there had never been enough of a concentrationof it, nor a species that had control over it. Its existence has only emerged upon the creation of what the geneticist Dr. Raven Jen would create and name Fire-Ice mixes, a long believed impossible mix of Elementals, due to the violent interaction between the two magics. Despite her belief that she had finally gotten ahead of the rules of the world, she instead created what would be more aptly referred to as Chaos Elementals, derivative Elementals that would share traits from both of their origin Elementals, while being something else entirely.
Provided that Chaos magic is incredibly novel, its effects on the world and its exact uses is little understood.
The dark flames quickly burst against Zoe's skin, the Ravagers eyes turning to a dark swirl of rust red as the magic was cast. But as they touched the white snowflakes of magic that had once surrounded her arms, they burst into a gust of pink, rushing wind. Her heart floated in her chest as her hair flew into her eyes. She prepared to hit the ground, but with a rush of air against her ears that she was staring down at the head of her would be assailant. Laughter bubbling within her, flowing out of her mouth without a care in the world, as the blade drew blood.
In appearance, Chaos magic appears as a rush of glowing pink wind, seeming to glitch occasionally through its path. It quickly changes to real wind, and is incredibly volatile. Its effects on emotions is inducing what could be referred to as madness, complete and total ignorance to consequences complete with laughter. It is similar to the Rush that Fire Elementals experience, though it lacks the hunger and craving of violence. What Chaos magic influences those effected by it to do seems to largely vary with the personality of the individual.
Effects on the Physical World
Have you noticed anything changing around the mines? Yes, it's important, just because it's not important to you doesn't mean that it isn't important to me. We want to try and understand-You might not want to, but I do.
We live underground, and the Ice haven't found us yet. Pretty sure it wouldn't be that hard if there was anything actually changing.
Working on it!
That is not what I meant!
Similarly, as there are no species that have been mutated by Chaos magic, it is difficult to understand what its effect may have, or how it may be used. There also at this time are no Chaos Ravagers (and hopefully never will be). As such, there are only the current Chaos Elementals to describe what it can be used for.
Current Uses
Given that Chaos magic is so volatile, it can hardly be controlled to do anything productive for long. The more it is used, the more it influences its users' behaviour. It can be guided or directed, but exactly what it will do is between the magic and its Elemental. There is development on recording exactly what may trigger each effect, but at the time of writing, the majority of the time it remains a mystery. The effects it has range from allowing the user to rip through the universal fabric, and teleport various distances. This works often like an Enigma Crystal, though its destination does not follow any coordinates. Instead, the user falls where the magic lays them. It can also be used to create gusts of wind, often to violent effect. Including controlling the blasts of explosives, or creating them with an effect similar to magically enhanced grenades. Chaos Elementals are capable of using this to avoid the damage of an explosion effecting them.Stranger effects include the sudden change in the direction/strength of gravity in a localized area, the ability to alter entropy (often to odd effect), apparently some effect of altering the speed of time-
Apparently? I thought you were writing an academic paper... And that you said you'd believe me.
I do believe that you're describing what you felt you experienced, but you have to admit that one feels far-fetched. 'Slow motion' could largely be the effect of adrenaline... Fine.
-There is one personal account of the ability to alter the speed of time, though this requires further investigation to confirm.
Phases and Areas of Strength
Given the novelty of this magic, its cycles are not yet understood. Considering that its current Elementals still reflect much of their two parental Elementals, Fire and Ice, it may take several generations before it becomes clear of how this magic will naturally ebb and flow. What is known is that areas with high levels of chaos and change increase the strength of Chaos magic. The more random, disordered, and the less one can understand what is going on, the stronger the effects it can be used for. It often makes surprise and general spontaneity a great weapon for one wielding this magic, as the less their enemies know about what they are capable of, the better their magic works. While Earth magic is still capable of weakening the Elementals that currently wield it, this is due to the Fire magic within them, and it is unknown if this would affect a Chaos Elemental born naturally rather than genetically modified. Chaos magic has a harsh effect against the use of Earth magic, and while it cannot be used to kill like Lightning magic is able to, Chaos magic's presence has a nullifying effect on Earth magic's use. Though this brings up more questions than answers on what magic would weaken Chaos magic or what magic it would weaken fully? Is the tradeoff that nothing truly would weaken it, but then it can not truly weaken another?
Again, are you writing an article, or a journal entry?
Maybe it would be better if I had a more helpful interviewee, that actually answered my questions seriously.
I assure you, that this way means your 'interviewee' actually gets to have some fun. Fucking up your article is just a happy side-effect.
