Introduction

Welcome to the worldanvil for our dnd 5E campaign, heavily influenced by Final Fantasy.   This is primarily aimed at my actual players, as a central resource for me to keep notes that are available to them.   The world (Eriad) stems from the great crystal, an enormous crystalline being that has existed throughout time, it had no beginning, it simply always existed. In the ancient past, the Aether within the crystal willed all of existence in to being, by shattering itself in to billions of pieces that spread throughout the universe, becoming every star and every planet known to exist. From these shattered fragments, Aether energy began to snake out from the fragments like tendrils. These tendrils slowly shaped the individual worlds, and all life upon them at it’s most base form. This life then evolved over millions of years to what exists today. At least, that's what True Crysteria believes....   The crystal fragments throughout the world are the lifeblood of the planet, they provide everything from the grass and trees to the souls of the life upon it, with the life-force energy needed to exist.   The world is heavily influenced by what amounts to ”magical science”. This includes actual magic, the influence of Aether as a source of mana, and also of Magitek, the use of harvested Aether as a power source for technology.   The overarching “god” of the universe is simply the clear crystal. People worship it in various ways and often have different beliefs about it’s gender/role/existence. The individual fragments remain as part of the whole, but do have their own individual differences, essentially making them a pantheon of crystal children, or perhaps simply limbs of the crystal itself. The clear crystal becomes tinted as it spends time in different locations or after being infused with different energy forms. The truth behind the crystals is debated.   Since the world is created and sustained by magic, the biomes and geography can vary wildly from location to location, as the world is shaped by the power of the crystal(s) most prominent in that location.   Planes don’t exist as you’d usually think in DND. There are other planes of existence, but magic tampering with them is considered highly dangerous and illegal, as it interferes with the very planet itself. The planes are primarily elemental in nature.   The world is mainly divided in to the three great nations. Each has their own form of government and culture. One of the defining events of the world was “the fracture”, where the Gridal Empire had been experimenting with weaponizing a primal crystal, experiments that failed, resulting in an enormous cleft in the side of the world. It goes deeper than anyone knows, and is hundreds of miles wide.
