Lesser Runes

Triggers

Code

Description: A trigger activated when the correct code word is either touched or is heard aloud. The code word is determined by either a mundane rune which defines the word, or via the Prime Mark rune. Example: The code set is 'folly', so when the mundane rune of 'folly' is touched, or if the word 'folly' is spoken in it's radius (if combined with the radius rune), then it will trigger the Prime Rune it's set to.

Condition

Description: A trigger activated when a condition is either met, or not met. Examples of a condition is when an object has been opened or closed, an object has been moved, an object has been breathed on, object is flipped over, etc. It is a unique condition that no other lesser rune can meet.

Contact

Description: A trigger activated when an outside force comes into physical contact with the object. The exception is of course inanimate surfaces such as floors, walls and ceilings. The runesmith can of course, make this list more exclusive by blacklisting any creature, object, material, etc., barring these from triggering the rune.

Impact

Description: A trigger activated when an outside force comes into forceful, oppressive or aggressive contact with the object. This can be any creature, object, energy or force, so long as it is a heavy impact. For example: A strong wind that rolls the object along the floor will not trigger it, but a hand-sized stone thrown at it could trigger the rune.

Motion

Description: A trigger activated when the object, or the rune in question, is transferred from a stable state to a state of motion. It is possible to add a directional lesser rune such as linear, cone or wall (not radius) to narrow down which direction the object/rune must be moved towards in order to trigger. Thus if the object is moved towards where the runes are facing if it's linear or cone it triggers. Or reversed it only activates if moved in the opposite direction.

Passive

Description: A trigger that keeps the runes active as long as their duration lasts the second the runesmith empowers it with their blood. Note that if a switch rune is used, it's possible to temporarily turn off passive runes until switched back or runes run out of duration.

Proximity

Description: A trigger that activates under two conditions. The first is when any object or creature (other than the runesmith activating it) crosses it's radius (base 1' without the radius rune). The second requires the Mark rune, where any object bearing the same Mark immediately following the proximity rune triggering the runes if they are removed from the proximity, or brought into the proximity (one or the other).

Solitude

Description: A trigger that activates only when there is no living creatures within the area. This area is by default anyone who is looking at it, however it can be refined with a directional rune, resulting in triggering whenever no one is looking at it, or when no one is within it's directional rune area.

Thermal

Description: A trigger that activates whenever a specified temperature determined by a mundane rune has either been met or surpassed. Thus the runesmith can set it to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in 100+ degrees triggering the rune. Or it could be set to 0 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in 0 and below triggering the rune. These are merely examples, any temperature can be specified, and the runesmith must specify which direction is the threshhold.

Weight

Description: A trigger that activates whenever a specified amount of weight determined by a mundane rune has either been met or surpassed. Thus the runesmith can set it to 1+ lbs, 10+ lbs, 0.1+ oz, etc.

Directions

Linear

Description: Sets the direction and shape of the previous rune's effects to be a 1' wide and 1" long linear path. When placed after a trigger rune, it determines a specific AoE in which the trigger can occur in. If placed behind a Prime or Greater rune (either runes like the detection rune, or enchanted runes) it can determine the linear path.

Cone

Description: Sets the direction and shape of the previous rune's effects to be a cone, 1' wide at the base, 1" long and 1" wide at the end. When placed after a trigger rune, it determines a specific AoE in which the trigger can occur in. If placed behind a Prime or Greater rune (either runes like the detection rune, or enchanted runes) it can determine the cone path.

Radius

Description: Sets the direction and shape of the previous rune's effects to be a 1" radius. For every additional radius rune, you can increase the radius by either 5' or 1" (depending on the prime rune). When placed after a trigger rune, it determines a specific AoE in which the trigger can occur in. If placed behind a Prime or Greater rune (either runes like the detection rune, or enchanted runes) it can determine the linear path.

Wall

Description: Sets the direction and shape of the previous rune's effects to be a 1' thick wall 1" long and 1" tall on either two sides, or on 4+ sides. When placed after a trigger rune, it determines a specific AoE in which the trigger can occur in. If placed behind a Prime or Greater rune (either runes like the detection rune, or enchanted runes) it can determine the area of effect.

Modifiers

Chain

Description: This rune links different runes together so that they each affect the other. There only needs to be one chain rune per set, allowing the runesmith to connect the runes of that set, to the runes of another set. Example A: a line of runes has two sets. If the chain rune is placed on set A, you can connect one or more runes from set A, onto runes in set B, allowing them to directly affect them. In order to connect runes from set B to set A however, the runesmith needs to put the chain rune in set B.

It is possible of course to put a chain rune in both sets for a complex back and forth activation. This does not reactivate runes after their duration has ended however.

Charge

Description: This rune modifies a rune set by granting them charges, a means to use them repeatedly. Specifically it empowers the prime and greater rune with a surplus of power stored to be release one at a time. By default 2 charges are placed onto the object. However they can also sacrifice 4 points of hp to apply yet another charge, up to a maximum of 4 +1 every 3 ranks.

Exclude

Description: This rune modifies lesser trigger runes to apply a blacklist of marks, creatures, people, etc. to exclude. Thus the trigger rune will not activate if it detects anything on that blacklist. Each added to the blacklist is it's own mundane rune. It can be as specific as a person's personal rune/name, or as general as a beast, or even living creatures overall as examples.

Extend

Description: This rune modifies the durations of other Prime runes. The duration of the Prime rune can be extended by 50% in length for every extend rune placed in the set.

Priority

Description: This rune modifies the 'targeting' priority of runes. Thus instead of a rune affecting the whole object, it can be set to only affect a specific part. Or if the rune is enchanted, and it can affect creatures around it, it can be given priority to target 1 before others (for example wizards and clerics before fighters and knights).

Repeat

Description: This rune modifies rune sets to reactivate automatically up to a set number of times so long as there is still duration remaining in the power runes, or if there are charges remaining if those were used. There is no trigger necessary for a repeated activation, only for the initial activation. Using the timer rune can create a delay between reactivations.

Switch

Description: This rune typically requires a chain rune to dictate which rune activates it, and which runes it affects. When triggered it can switch the first selected runes off, and the second runes on. Thus if a detection rune of magic energy is chained to this rune, when magic energy is detected rune x deactivates and rune y activates in it's stead.

Threshold

Description: This rune modifies Lesser Trigger runes by determining how many triggers must activate before it activates the line of runes, determined by a mundane rune. This lesser rune must be placed directly after the trigger rune.

Timer

Description: This rune modifies Lesser Trigger runes by delaying the activation of a line of runes until a set amount of seconds/minutes determined by a mundane rune have passed after the trigger. Note that up to an hour maximum can be determined, but if an extension rune is added to this one immediately afterwards then it can be changed to a maximum of 24 hours, then 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, etc.

Limit

Description: This rune modifies a Prime Rune's Power Grade, Duration, Number of Triggers, etc. Thus one can prevent a rune of power from being greater than a Power Grade of 5, prevent it from lasting too long, prevent it from triggering more than once, etc.
