Borg
Borg
Borg's Character Sheet
He was born in the deserts of the grey waste. His mother is the orc Gorg. He is doesnt know who is father is. Grog told him that one night she happened upon an older man in one of the sparse forest near one of the few oases of the grey waste. This man seemed different from any man she had met in the grey waste. He wore a brown hat and brown robes. On his face he wore a strange adornment that placed round pieces of glass over his eyes. He had long grey hair and a long grey beard. He smelled so different from anything in the grey waste, like a combination of something clean but old. She spared Borg the details but let him know that whoever this man was, that man is his father. Gorg never saw the man again after that night. She fell asleep and he was gone in the morning. Gorg never learned the mans name. All she knows is he seemed to be looking for something, though Gorg doesnt know what it was he was looking for.
Gorg raised Borg in the deserts and sparse forest of the grey waste.
Gorg taught Borg how to hunt and track the various animals of the grey waste such as snakes, rabbits, stag, camels, even elephants. She also taught Borg how to preserve the meat from the hunted animals (the elephant lasted them two years).
In addition to how to hunt and track animals Gorg taught Borg how to hunt and track the various humanoid type races. The grey waste is full of raiders who roam around taking from others as they please. In order to survive you must know how to run, hide, and fight. Being able to read the track of humanoids helps in order to discern important information such as how many people are in a group, which direction they were going, and if they might still be near by.
Gorg taught Borg to excel at shooting a bow as that is the most common way to hunt, but she also spent time teach Borg what she could about how to fight up close with a club as a backup in case using a bow wasnt an option.
Lastly Gorg taught Borg how to identify various plants and fungi so that he would know what is safe to eat and what is poisonous.
As Borg grew so did naturally his curiosity about the world. While he had seen a fair share of the wilderness, he never got to know much about civilization. His mother Gorg was a master of surviving in the wilderness and taught Borg well on how to live as she has lived, but Borg wonder if perhaps there could be more to life than just surviving. He had seen the various settlements and towns that other various humanoid races gathered and dwelt at. He wonder what everyone was doing there and he also was genuinely curious to meet other people, people that were not wanting to just murder him and take all his belongings that is. While literally anyone and everyone he had meet in the wilderness had simply tried to kill him on the spot and take his belongings, when he looked from afar at the people in towns everyone seemed relatively friendly and no one was trying to murder anyone.
Gorg a truly neutral individual who never really cared about anything other than survival and Borg couldnt understand her sons desire to go into town. She told Borg that is must be the blood of his father that makes him feel the way he does. Gorg seeing that her son had grown told Borg that he should set out on his own and go see the civilization he seems so curious to know. She told Borg that he can always find her out in the wilderness. There are only a few oases and Borg is a skilled enough tracker to find her whenever he wants.
Borg set off to town with the little belongings he had being clothing made of animal skins, a club, and his bow and arrows. Upon reaching the town he saw it was beset by a small band of raiders. Not wanting to see civilization destroyed before he could experience it, he attacked the raiders from behind with his bow. The raiders were busy trying to fight the town guards and not watching their backs. Borg easily assisted the town guards by shooting arrows into the backs of the raiders. Quickly losing numbers the raiders that were not killed fled into the desert. The people of the town who witnessed Borgs actions hailed him as a hero. Helping the towns people filled Borg with a feeling he had never felt before, altruism. Helping people genuinely made Borg happy and gave him a sense of purpose. Borg was treated well by the people of town, and the people were happy an individual like him was on their side when raiders showed up. Borg became an unofficial guard of the town. He helped fight off many raiding parties and even became more proficient at fighting with his club from the various battles he participated in. His local fame made life in town comfortable for him. The inn keep allowed Borg to have a room to live in and the various restaurants were happy to give Borg free food and drink.
While Borg has lived in town for a while now, about 7 months, much of the customs of civilization are strange to him such as proper etiquette while dining and reliving ones self when their bladder is full, but he has adjusted as best as he could.
Being raised in the wildness by a mother who only taught survival has made Borg to be considered chaotic in nature by most peoples standards, though he is innately good. Borg does what he feels is best and right. He doesnt concern himself with the law as it is an unknown concept to him to have to follow arbitrary rules. Also, Borg cannot read so learning the law would be difficult for him and people seem to get annoyed when he berates them with many questions about civilization. He will follow rules people in town tell him he should follow so long as it doesnt feel wrong to him, but he will gladly not follow any rule if it means doing what he feels is right. Aside from urinating in public a few times Borg hasnt really broken any laws as since he is innately good, he wouldnt do things like steal from others or harm others that are not trying to harm someone else.
Being chaotic good and raised in the wilderness Borg will:
Lie if it leads to good being done.
Help the needy.
Honor those who promote freedom and goodness.
Break the law in pursuit of goodness.
Avenge acts of evil-doers.
Ignore authority in the pursuit of good.
Follow his heart in making decisions.
Borg will not:
Harm an innocent.
Betray others (unless it means doing good/preventing evil).
Have any sense of obligation to duty (whatever that is).
Turn down a chance to experience something new.
Aid evil-doers.
Things were going good for Borg since he decided to go into town. He lived more comfortably than he had ever in his entire life and he enjoyed the company of people who were kind and liked him. Borg was pretty happy alright, but unfortunately for Borg the Knights of St. Cuthbert were about to make his life a lot less comfortable. Borg and the city guards had easily fought off many unorganized raiding parties, but an organized army of trained knights was something else entirely. When the Knights of St. Cuthbert arrived at town they broke down the simple gates and subdued all the towns folk in less than an hour. They force the town to swear allegiance to the Order of St. Cuthbert and immediately began construction of a temple to St. Cuthbert. The Knights of St. Cuthbert tore down many of the small shops in town to build their temple to St. Cuthbert. Worshipping a god was a strange concept not only for Borg but all of the people of town. The grey waste is the short name of the plane Borg lives in. The full name is The Grey Waste of Hades. Hades is the evil god that, along with some of his high ranking night hags, reigns over all of the grey waste. The presence of his evil magic fills the air. Only evil people worship him. It is a common custom to say Hades in various ways when something bad happens. Even Borgs mother Gorg would exclaim Oh Hades or Hades when an animal dodged her arrow or when she accidently cut herself skinning an animal. Hades is the only god Borg knows of and he would never worship him, in fact he would never want to draw the attention of Hades at all. The Knights of St. Cuthbert seem like madmen to Borg in the worshipping of a god and all the rules they have to follow. The rules the Knights of St. Cuthbert force Borg to follow and the forced worship of their god is quite frankly too much for Borg to bear, but there currently isnt anything Borg can do about it. No one in the grey waste really knows where the Knights of St. Cuthbert came from but they are pretty sure it wasnt from somewhere in the grey waste.
Recently an elder started telling people that she had a vision that a strange party would come to help the town in a time of great need. And just moments ago the Knights of St. Cuthbert announced a 200 gold reward for the capture of any adventurers that come to town. Borg has just meet the strangest group of individuals he has ever seen. If the Knights of St. Cuthbert are wanting to capture adventurers then perhaps the elder is right and just maybe this group of individuals is the party foretold. One thing is for sure to Borg, any enemy of the Knights of St. Cuthbert is a friend of his.
