Fractured soul

There are many conflicting beliefs regarding any sort of afterlife in Ereanor. Some believe that to think of this life as just a stepping stone to an eternal one is blasphemous, and devalues the worth of life. Others believe that unless you put faith in all the gods, you go to Hel. Over the years, people have died and been revived, each to varying success. Some say they saw an infinite pool of pristine water, or that they saw purple flames and dark caverns. The only things we know for certain are that some species find more success coming back from death, while others experience complications and die soon after. The longer one has been dead has also been found to have an impact on survivability.    What Jethro was in the process of studying alongside keeping track of his Brother's dark rituals, was death, and where we might go when we die. His findings were lost when his brother, known as Dragon, found that Jethro had been keeping track of his schemes, and tried to kill him. Upon finding out that Jethro had been blessed with immortality, Dragon simply fractured his mind, and put him in Norgath prison.   When a creature dies in Ereanor, their soul doesn't immediately leave their body. It takes a minute for this to occur. Once the minute is up, only something extremely powerful like the fabled Wish spell, a god, mass sacrifice as part of a ritual (more recently), or some incredibly experienced magic users can bring that person back. When that person does return. they aren't guaranteed to have 100% of their soul. The energy used during powerful uses of revivify or wish, is used to send out magical essence into all the realms to search for the soul that was once attached to the body the spell is being performed on. If there is no body currently present, a duplicate body will be created and the effect of soul fracturing will multiply tenfold, killing the person will die in usually a week or two.    The few times people have died and been brought back in Ereanor history, they've all experienced severe convulsive seizures, extreme mood swings, memory loss, visitation by interdimensional entities (very rare cases), and death.
