The Sacking of Saedeer

The city of Seadeer, having begrudgingly accepted to return to the fold of the Kingdom after hard negotiations by King Ferodon II almost 70 years before, announce their independence once more under claims of unjust treatment from the Crown. In reality, the secession was primarily motivated by the cities merchant nobility to continue now harshly restricted and later illegal slave, whale and alcohol trade.   The King, angered by this rebellion and seeing that words had no effect on the hardy folk of Seadeer road out with three regiments of the Royal Army as well as a coalition of mages from the then newly formed Aurora Academy to demand their surrender. After 22 days under siege, King Ferodon´s patience finally ran out after a negotiators bloody head returned to the King by way of catapult.   But a day later the city was in flames, the self proclaimed King of Seadeer along with much of the nobility leadership dead and the once proud castle in ruins.
