Deus Wastes

The wasteland to the East of the Diorla continent, beyond the Calico Mountains is vast, and mostly derived of life. The wastes shift from desert in the east, river valleys in the south and steppe in the west where they eventually bleed into the woodland of the Drytrees .
It is commonly agreed on by scholars that the Deus Wastes was the site of the last and greatest battles of the The God Wars . This theory is based both on the stories told of those battles and the barren wastes themselves, scared by unbelievably powerful magic and craters the size of cities.
In the old libraries of Andelifa exist tomes so old that they describe a time before the God Wars and a place that may be what the Deus Wastes later became. In these tales and paintings the now-wasteland is depict as a land of rivers and shallow valleys, with verdant forests and rich wildlife. These lands are still unnamed in the texts that survive, but appear to have been home to elves and halflings, as art of beautifully carved wooden structures of elvish design as well as the homely hillside homes of the smallfolk have been described in songs from this age.

Geography

The west of these flatlands are dominated by sandy and rocky desert, rarely broken by an oasis and even then these are usually seasonal. The desert push up against the Calico Mountains in the west, marking the end of the Hundari and the beginning of the Kingdom of Evangil. In the south, where the seasonal Jouiil River brings life to the grasslands the desert gives way to steppe, with miles of tall grass and rolling hills stretching all the way to the horizon.
