Wolfsfelden

The Capital of the Duchy of its namesake Wolfsfelden, while still a large cityscape and metropolis it is the least populated of all Imperial elector capitals. It sits a vast tundra-like plain, created so by the years of logging in the region. The harsh and unforgiving environment has molded the citizens of Wolfsfelden into a tough and determined people. Despite the challenges of their surroundings, the people of Wolfsfelden hold fast to their traditions and the old ways.   The city's surrounding farm land is for mostly heard animals and a few crops that grow in the short season for the Tundra. Beyond that is a dense Taiga forest, teeming with wildlife and natural resources that the citizens of Wolfsfelden have learned to harness for their survival. The dense canopy of the forest provides a stark contrast to the barren and windswept tundra that spreads out beyond the city's limits.   The architecture of Wolfsfelden reflects the strong and sturdy nature of its citizens. The buildings are made of stone and wood, designed to withstand the harsh winds and snow of the tundra. A bastion against the great wilds, its outer walls are thick timbered palisade, as stone quarries are rare and mostly in dwarven territory. The inner wall and fortress are an ancient stone fortification erected in the 1st age, with its towers timbered at the top. A liability in the Dragon Wars, portions of the city have been rebuilt many times.   Despite its remote location, Wolfsfelden is a thriving hub of commerce and trade. The citizens are skilled hunters, trappers, and artisans, and their wares are highly sought after by traders who brave the journey to the city. The people of Wolfsfelden are a proud and independent lot, and they fiercely guard their traditions and way of life against outside influences. While the churches of Azanar are prevalent through out the Empire, many sects to Spirit Realm deities can be found in Wolfsfelden along with faiths of other pantheons not common in the "Holy" Empire.   The people of Wolfsfelden are used to settling their differences through physical means, and the guards often turn a blind eye to minor scuffles and brawls. This rough and tumble approach to conflict resolution is seen as a reflection of the toughness and determination of the citizenry. However, the guards are quick to intervene if a fight threatens to spiral out of control and cause widespread damage or harm to innocent bystanders. They maintain a delicate balance between allowing the citizens to vent their frustrations and settle their differences in their own way, while also ensuring that the peace and stability of the city are maintained. Despite the occasional bouts of violence, life in Wolfsfelden is generally characterized by a strong sense of community and camaraderie. The citizens are fiercely independent, but they also band together to face the challenges of their harsh environment and to protect their way of life.
