Viclaen

This line of vampirism was said to arise among the Elves of Velthanor, infected by a Vrayitor(perhaps Vrayis himself) to see how the fae touched would respond to the affliction. The Winter Elf infected did not seem affected by the Domination of being sired by Vrayis and thus created a distinctly unique Bloodline. Viclaen tend be females but male Viclaen are not uncommon, and most commonly are former Winter or Spring Elves. This vampiric line prefers to maintain a high level of society creating elaborate covens, drink in excess, and relish in immortality. The line suffered greatly in the destruction of Velthanor in the Sundering, seeking refuge among the Rutheni or attempting to hide within what remained of Elven society. Viclaen lines will have many willing and knowing attendants, all too happy to be fed upon, for the boons their undead masters may grant them.

Culture

Common Etiquette rules

Viclaen tend to meld with their surrounding environment but are perhaps known as the eccentric lord or lady who throws the extravagant parties.  Viclaen love the giving and receiving of extravagant and rare gifts.  They tend to show little modesty and are often very physical in their interaction with others.  Preferring to win the battle of Will and Mind, Viclaen are loathe to resort to violence, often keeping strong mortal warriors as members of their Covens.

Coming of Age Rites

A fresh Arisen is generally well celebrated among a coven.  Wasting no opportunity for lavish festivities, Viclaen have created hedonistic ceremonies to not only turn the worthy Thrall, but celebrate their new status.  The first days of an Arisen tend to be among the most raucous and filled debaucheries.  Often Thralls will not survive these celebrations as the Sire will let their Arisen experience their new life to the fullest, tho this is usually kept to a minimum.  Strict order is kept within a Coven, and generally a Viclaen will not stray till they near a full millennia as a vampire and seek their own house.

Historical figures

The first Viclaen is said to have been a Beautiful younger scion of the Winter Elf house of Nytraven.  The beautiful and talented spell weaver sought to aid in curing Vrayis, some will say having fallen for him, other versions that she pitied him.  Now turned, in many telling's against her will, she was furious with the Vampire and cast him out of her presence, his domination holding no sway over her.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Viclaen are often considered the fairest and most beautiful of all elves.  This focus on outward beauty is pervasive among Viclaen covens, and they will often seek the most radiant of elves to become their progeny.

Relationship Ideals

Viclaen will dangle the gift of immortality among desirous thralls rewarding the most loyal, faithful, and beautiful to join their covens.  Being an already long lived race, this can take many centuries of service before a thrall may be made an Arisen.  It is uncommon for a Viclaen to leave their sires coven, as the gift of immortality does not alter their behaviors much from being an elf.  As Viclaen near elder status they will start to seek their own places of excess and form sister Covens to their Sires.  With the return of the Snow Elves and the rebuilding of their former homeland, many Viclaen have turned their attention to these lands for new places of power.
