Tirion Anor

Tirion Anor was the largest city to survive the Sundering and became the base of operations for all recovery efforts upon what remained of Velthanor at the time. This put it in position to become the new Capital of the Elven Nation and the Summer Elves. Over the centuries the valley and mountains which in inhabits expanded. The forest floor holds the majority of the city while noble house spire up the mountains in gleaming elven crystal. At the mountains peak resides the great tower of the Speakers, rebuilt here after the Sundering where each elven nations speakers meets to discuss important matters of state that face all the elven people.

Demographics

The vast majority of Tirion Anors population are Summer Elves, however there are enclaves and delegations from the other elven peoples as well. Aelfar and Drakania of elven descent make up a minority of the population around 20%. About 10% of the population is made up of Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halfings that have for one reason or another made their home in the elven capital. As of yet a very small number of humans have settled directly in the city despite the Speakers new open immigration policies.

Government

Tirion Anor is ruled by various noble families. These leaders are often referred to as elders and govern their various districts with fairly significant autonomy. The Speaker of Summer also acts as the Archon of the city, though frequently delegates many of their duties to their council of Elders.

Defences

Tirion Anor is perhaps one of the most defended cities in all of Eraneth. Enclosed in a natural valley the peaks of the surrounding mountain ranges are dotted with military strongholds boasting robust siege equipment, powerful magics, and cadres of Great Eagle riders and Gryphon Knights. As these outposts are part of the city and fully garrisoned at any given time the immediatly available response forces to an attack are robust. In addition the Summer Elves citizen levy allows for rapid mobilization of the civilian populace in a fraction of the time it would take other cities to muster its soldiery. The city watch is a distinctly separate entity that focuses primarily on peace keeping and squashing petty crime.

Industry & Trade

The city is the center of Elvendom and as such is a bustling hub for commerce and trade across Velthanor. Centrally located upon what remains of the continent also makes it the primary hub for commerce north to the Spring Elves or south to the Moon Elves. Its mountains are rich in ore and gems and its forests vast making it a powerhouse in industrial production and raw natural resources.

Infrastructure

The city boasts a robost teleportation network using the connection of the forest to move about the lower sections of the city with ease. Making ones way to the more mountainous districts requires long winding roads up the mountain, planned ascents upon great eagles, or access to more private teleportation hubs. Few subterranean areas exist within the mountains, however it is rumored a vast cavernous sewer system snakes all over the mountain and out of the city.

Districts

  • The Spire is named quite simply for the Spire of the Speaker which dominates this district. A towering citadel of crystalline elven architecture where the leaders of the elven nations convene upon the peak of the Anor Mountain. This district houses embassies for the various elven peoples, grand halls for governance, and the archives of elven history. It is the political and spiritual heart of the city, a place where ancient traditions and modern diplomacy intertwine.

  • Sylvaelor Ward is the beating heart of daily life in Tirion Anor, sprawling across the valley floor. In the lower regions governed by this district one may find the various drilling yards and mustering houses for the Citizen Levy.

  • Elarithan Ward consists of the majority of agricultural regions within the forest as well is responsible for most of the outer defensive forts. While many of the forts are directly lead by various noble families that make them their residents, the leader of the Ward is responsible for co ordinating all of the defensive activity for Tirion Anor.

Guilds and Factions

The Council of Elders contains the strongest of the Noble Families of Tirion Anor and is a formidable political entity within the city. It is comprised of House Ithilvar, Caelthwyn, Aerlynn, Sylvaris, Thandorien, Elarion, Myrnthal, and Solandor. Among the populace several fraternal like orders have gained prominence over the centuries. The Order of Summers Wing is a prestigious military order whose members comprise former and current eagle and gryphon riders. The Summerfire Sentinels who have coalesced as a rebuke to the speakers pro human and Aelfar integration policies. Lastly the Verdant Concord finds common cause among the more natural minded of the city who strive to preserve the ancient forest and ensure the city lives in harmony with nature. Among the artisans of the city; the Calanthir Arcanum is a guild of magical crafters and practitioners, the Auremyr Fellowship a group of Elven Crystal and Gem cutters, and the Narathil Pact the guild of elven metal smiths.

History

Before the Sundering, Tirion Anor was a prosperous but relatively minor mining city, nestled within the mountains of Velthanor. Known for its rich deposits of enchanted crystals and precious metals, it supplied other great elven cities with resources but held little political significance. During the

Dragon Wars it became a highly fortified fortress where its resources could craft the tools of war, remain protected, and provide a place for the Dragons to roost upon Velthanor. When the Sundering shattered the elven lands, Tirion Anor’s natural defenses and deep mines made it one of the few cities to withstand the cataclysm. In the aftermath, it became the heart of elven recovery efforts, sheltering refugees and organizing the remnants of the once-great elven nations. As the survivors rebuilt, the city transformed—its noble houses took root in the mountains, its halls became the new center of governance, and the great Tower of the Speakers was reconstructed at its peak. The effort to create this new center of Elvendom became a rallying point for all of Velthanor. Over centuries, its strategic location and thriving industry cemented its status as the new capital of the Elven Nation, where the destiny of all elvenkind is now shaped.

Points of interest

  • The Eternal Prism is a massive, radiant crystal that stands in the heart of the Vaelossari Glade. It is said to contain the accumulated wisdom of the Elven Nation, acting as both a magical focus and a source of immense arcane power. Mages and scholars from all over Elvendom travel to study the Prism, which is surrounded by ancient elven runes and protected by powerful wards. Its light is said to reflect the purity of elven knowledge, shining brighter in times of great unity.

  • The Hall of the Unbroken is located within the Elarithan Ward, this hall is a memorial to the resilience of Tirion Anor after the Sundering. Within, statues and murals depict the great sacrifices made to preserve the city, and it serves as both a shrine to fallen defenders and a rallying point for the military. The Hall is also home to the city’s most elite warriors, who gather here to train and prepare for any threat that might arise.

  • The Verdant Arcadia is nestled between Sylvaelor Ward and Celisthira Heights. A sprawling garden and park that was grown by the city's druidic order, the Verdant Concord, it is a peaceful place where both the common folk and nobility come to find respite in nature. Ancient trees, shimmering pools, and verdant pathways are interwoven with elven stonework, creating a serene sanctuary where visitors can meditate, practice magic, or simply bask in the tranquility of the natural world.

Climate

The city is comfortably temperate thru most seasons, with the great mountains providing a curtain against the worst of weather. The mountain peaks will get snow in the winter, and the valley will be warmed in the summer. The great forest canopy keeps most residents comfortably shaded thru the worst of heat and heaviest of rain.
