Balaur
The Balaur line is an offshoot of the original von Danesti line. Dragos von Danesti, the brother of Marius, while turned at the same time as Marius, his transformation was very different. While Marius fed upon those nobles who refused to follow him in breaking from the empire, Dragos was responsible for defending the realm. A great Gold Dragon fell upon the von Danesti castle to prevent their treachery. Dragos slew the mighty dragon and drank its blood, sating his first hunger with dragon blood. Dragos became strong, even by vampiric standards, and was empowered to breath great fire and many other draconic like attributes unique to his line. Balaur Vampires are short tempered, war like, ferocious in battle.
Culture
Common Etiquette rules
Balaur are quick to anger and often see insult and slights at every turn. Duels and battles of honor are common among the Balaur and other vampires who interact with them are careful to not end up in a fight with these ferocious terrors. The Balaur also prefer direct communication and are often seen as blunt at best.
Coming of Age Rites
A Balaur who is readied to join the Blooded was often sent to hunt a dragon and feast upon their blood. Many Balaur would not survive this mission, but it did ensure the Sanguine among them were fierce and cunning warriors. With the dragons now in a mystical slumber, the Balaur have sufficed to feast upon Wyverns and Drakes.
Historical figures
Dragos von Danesti their first Sire is revered among the Balaur and is often referred to as the Blood Dragon. Dragos was slain in a great battle following the Sundering against the fleeing Shadow Elves and the Dragons loyal to them. Dragos decapitated head was found with 3 Dragons cut to ruin around him and countless elven bodies, a testament to his fury and ability. His body was returned to his families castle and he was laid to eternal rest in the Crypts beneath the keep.
Ideals
Relationship Ideals
Balaur Vampires are always looking for valiant, strong, and abled warriors to join their progeny. As often viewed as the most reckless of Vampires, they tend to have a fairly high attrition rate in comparison, so do not concern themselves with mortal lineage the way their von Danesti cousins do, Balaur are mostly concerned with ability and skills they can augment with the great gift of the dragons blood.
