Megaconglomerates

A Megaconglomerate is simply a government-regulated corporate conglomerate that spans multiple planets. Conglomerates are considered to be distinct entities from the companies that make them up, and are responsible for aiding in managerial duties for their constituent companies, as well as auditing their constituent companies on a regular basis.

Structure

Megaconglomerates must adhere to a strict hierarchy system to manage their operations known as the "Corporate Conglomerate Coordination of Officials" or CCCO. Note, these positions are specific to the conglomerate itself and not any company or location in which these officials work. For instance, a retail store part of a company under a Megaconglomerate must have a Layer 1 personnel present at all times to oversee and advise managerial decisions, but would not hold the position of "Store Manager" at that store, as that would lie under the Company itself, not the conglomerate, to fulfill.

Executives

Council Executives are high-ranking officials within a megacorporation. Any conglomerate-wide decision of great importance is processed through this council. This council is formed through the promotion of exceptional Layer 3 personnel. In order to prevent corruption, to allow lower-ranking personnel a chance to grow, and to prevent ideological stagnation within a company: Executives are regularly demoted to Layer 3 Personnel every 10 years with promising Layer 3 Personnel being promoted to fill in their places.

Layer 3 Personnel

Layer 3 Personnel consist of managers and their immediate support staff that manage the Layer 2 personnel across multiple ecoblocks, or even entire planets.

Layer 2 Personnel

Layer 2 Personnel consist of managers and their immediate support personnel that manage the Layer 1 Personnel across multiple divisions, or entire ecoblocks.

Layer 1 Personnel

Layer 1 personnel consist of MoM's (managers of managers) and their immediate support staff that aid in management of individual facilities, such as retail stores, distribution centers, office complexes, and warehouses.

Culture

Conglomerate culture  varies, however one thing remains constant: high-ranking officials working for a conglomerate use the same safe, sterilized, and professional tone.

Assets

Conglomerates manage many multi-billion credit corporations; and while they do not technically "own" any of these assets, the money they make by managing these companies as well as the power they have over them make Conglomerates extremely powerful entities with trillions of credits. Their assets may include fleets of ships (with no capital vessels), millions of professional soldiers and ground armaments, and political connections that allow them to pull strings nearly anywhere.

History

Megaconglomerates were formed under the "Public/Private Fairness Partnership" act, whose goal was to lower the effective power of corporate entities while ensuring private business could still thrive. Megaconglomerates were outlined in this act as government-regulated entities responsible for their constituent companies.
