The Transformation of Juiblex

Juiblex used to be depicted as a pale young man who might visit the sickbeds of those who called to him. He would then reach over and draw the illness to himself, thus freeing the sick from their suffering.   It was said that this was once used against him, after the followers of the demigod of revenge, Inas, called upon Juiblex and tricked him with a sickness that even he could not handle. This started the slow transformation of an illness where his skin would begin to ooze black oil. And it ended with him entirely losing his form just to become a formless blob of black, oily substance where eyes formed, bubbling to the surface, and watched everything. The gentleness of Juiblex was gone… replaced by malice and anger.   That corruption then began to spread where his followers walked, too. Most of them swore off of Juiblex, destroyed his temples and idols.. But some of them kept strong to their faith and were forced to go into hiding.   The ones that stayed, rejoiced in the new form of their patron. They rejoiced in the harm that could be done to others just by their presence. It’s said that in their madness they began to prepare a ritual to bring Juiblex from his realm… the realm of sickness.. into ours.
