Atlas Park

The city’s first and still most prominent industrial park, Atlas Park is located on a waterfront and is home to both modern manufacturing and the industrial side of super-science. While still regulated by the city, Atlas Park is still large enough, and certain landlords shifty enough, that illicit operations still occur. Everything from cars to murderous robot minions rolls off the assembly lines of Atlas Park, and the area sees more than its fair share of super-heroic battles on its streets.
  THE HOUSE OF IDEAS: The home of Doc Marvel’s manufacturing and research endeavors (collectively known as Ideation, LLC) in the Silver Age, The House of Ideas has been on lockdown since Doc Marvel and his wife Mary Mars traveled off into space for what looked to be the final time. Currently under the management of the couple’s best friend and teammate, Prime Ape. Fairly reclusive, the currents goings-on within The House are unknown to the public. It is believed that the House still has Doc Marvel’s most fantastic inventions, and cutting-edge production technology that can create nearly anything the mind can conceive. All of this, of course, makes the House a frequent target of supervillain attacks and burglary attempts. In times of desperate need, however, rumor is that Prime Ape will open the House’s bleeding-edge factory lines to those who might be able to use them, or at least lend his resources to research efforts. However, there are the rumored ‘escapes’ from the House, dangerous technology breaking out into a world that isn’t prepared for it.
  THE SHADOW COLLEGE: While popularly derided as a ‘nerd cult’ and ‘goth science,’ The Shadow College can represent a very real danger. A branch of scientific that some say makes possible the sort of physics-redefining discoveries super-science specializes in, so-called ‘black science’ offers a peek into a metaphysical world beyond our own. Almost universally driving its proponents mad, black science offers discoveries that become a compulsion for practitioners. The Shadow College is a loose affiliation of these scientists, all along various stages in their respective descents into madness. Shadow College practitioners often find themselves utilizing derelict buildings in Atlas Park to pursue their dark drives. Alternatively, less hands-on or scrupulous landlords are more than willing to rent property to them, without much attention paid to what’s going on, inside. All too often, members of the superhero community find themselves in some seemingly forgotten corner of Atlas Park, trying to prevent yet another world-threatening project from seeing completion.
  THE UNION: Henchman’s Local 515 is the somewhat joking name for the organization that supports workers in the field of extra-normal sciences. Specifically, this union takes membership from those who work in the manufacturing, distribution and physical labor aspects of advanced science. Somewhat controversial, this union represents both workers for companies such as Doc Marvel’s Ideation LLC, and for organizations that veer into supervillainy. Many see the Henchman’s Local as a necessary evil, protecting costumed henchmen even as it provides some legal assistance and lenience for an assembly line worker that eventually finds his job pushing him toward putting on a purple costume and firing some of the laser cannons he’d been previously assembling.
