In pursuit of the Beads

611 AU, Urgag (5th day) in the First Galend of Mald (day 185 of the year, 5th day of Sword in the month of the Trout, Dragon Isles calendar)
Having woken up to a good nights sleep and the loan of horses as well as two Horsemen of the Order of the Bear accompanying them the Adventurers headed off to Caer Skagness in order to pick up their horses and mule.
Caer Skagness was welcoming and Bran't Taylor David presented a feast where Flarty expanded on the story and travails of the Jars Forest. The following day the adventurers continued on to Caer Reynard however the Eorl was not in town so they stayed at a local inn. The following day they continued on and arrived late to Jaronne. After showing their letter from the Archbishop Sayer Baynton of Militas they were accompanied to the Rectory of the Archbishop Tatee. She met with them briefly and then were recommended an inn to stay in, the Manor House Inn. When out for dinner and drinks they heard about a Poetry contest and Uoret was excited to try and wanted to compete.
Staying the extra day the group went around the town buying up supplies they would need for their coming trip to Daranmax. While shopping they came across a very interesting bow and arrows. They also found some cuirboil armour that Lied and Cloudagh purchased. That night the poetry competition was interesting with many participants however in the end Uoret lost out to a local favourite a fisherman.
The next day they started their trip to Daranmax. After several days on the road they came upon a battle scene. there were no bodies but its was obvious that a skirmish had occured. There were feathers of a kind that neither Uoret nor Gwen could easily identify and there was blood on the ground.
Then continued down the road and eventually came across another battle scene. This time there were several bodies of guards and a horse. More of the feathers that Uoret was convinced were from a Griffin and the Gwen was sure they were not. The team decided to stay the night close by to this area after searching for a while.
The next day they came across yet another battles scene and its survivors. The Leader of the Caravan greeted them on horseback and asked if they could led a hand and if anyone amongst them knew first aid. Several of the guards were badly hurt as was some of the merhcants. While Flarty was administering First Aid both Uoret and Gwen examend the body of one of the attackers. They quickly realized that these were Harpies. After hearing that several children had been taken by the creatures the group decided to go after these Harpies.
One of the guards came with them and they followed what he claimed was the direction they had flown. After almost 4 hours of travel they noticed something large flying above a hill just a 1/2 mile away. The group approached the hill and were quickly set upon by three of the harpies. The Harpies made a screeching sound that not only distracted the group but made them very un-nerved and unsure of themselves. The fight was intense with several times the group fearing that they Harpies may get the better of them. At one point Gwen attempted to strike them down using her magic only to have a dramatic back fire of her abilities that almost took her life! Eventually Uoret's bow struck true and killed that last of the Harpies. The group then made their way up the hill to the Harpies' next where they found the children who were wounded and in shock.
Riding back to the caravan's camp the parents of the children were very happy to see them still alive and thanked the Adventurers. The next day they once again thanked the group and shared their provisions and bid them farewell.
