B’ran Sulwyn Balgair

Clan seat is the walled village of Caer Balgair with a Bailey and a Shell Keep VIII with B’ran Sulwyn Balgair’s vassal lords who hold the surrounding clan lands which stretch from the western shores of the Jar river continuing west along the northeast of the March Trail. A huge piece of Serpentine (the size of a pillow) sits under the clan chief’s throne in Caer Balgair. It weighs over 200 pounds.   The lands are a mix of fertile farmland and areas close to the Quan Ma caves. The Lammas forest is immediately to the west of the clan's lands and is more dense yet still allows for slow horse travel. The river villages are prosperous with farmlands and in season fishing. B’ran Balgair travels infrequently to Jaroone preferring to administer his lands and being in nature as much as possible. Clan Balgair also has a single B’rant Telor David, of Caer Skegness, which holds a medium sized motte and bailey shell keep VII within a walled village.   The clan’s economy is a mix of fish, grains (including linen) and a mixture of cattle, pigs and sheep. This is augmented by the semi precious stones extracted from the nearby caves as well as the engravers of the goldsmith’s guild and their exceptional work in creating seals. Local Guild Master of Caer Balgair, is Ronald Fennimore, who is a middle aged man. Normally Ronald will train and approve of the apprentices of this guild. The seals made by this guild are renowned throughout Urtind as being of exceptional quality.   The hill country in the western sections of the Balgair Clan is the eastern part of the Lammas Forest and contains many high quality hardwoods and therefore supports the export of finished hardwood timbers and lumber as well as finished goods made from this excellent hardwood (Oak, Hickory, Ash, Elm and Walnut are common while most deciduous types are found in the forest with Willows being common along the shores and swamps of the river and its tributaries). Some tree fruit are grown but largely for local consumption and minor export of seasonally fresh or off season dried to neighbouring clans and tribes.   Sulwyn and his wife, Ailbhe, of clan Reynard have a single 10 year old male child who has just entered the schools of the college of light. He was previously mastering his knightly skills but did not take to warrior skills to the same degree as his father who was not a great warrior to begin with. They are expecting another child before the end of this year. Previously they had both a son and daughter, both of whom died at an early age. Ailbhe Reynard Balgair is most times in Clan Balgair’s hereditary seat of Caer Balgair not preferring the hustle and bustle of the town of Jaronne and has not seen her brother the Eorl in over 4 years, some claiming there is bad blood there.   High Clan Chief Balgair wears full chainmail (+4) as does his Elstash guard (+2), chainmail hauberk (+1) for the Ijeiss and Areiss, sword (+5) & lance for the B’ran and his Elstash guards use lances and broadswords +1, the Ijeiss and Areiss use axes and longbows respectively. B’ran Balgair is especially talented with administering his estates and despite the difficulties has been able to run at a profit when most of his predecessors have put the clan into decline.
