Eolith is a broken, dangerous world. A cataclysmic event occurred centuries ago, causing the world to erupt and change into a challenging, hostile environment. Travel is rare- and rewarding, for those who can handle the journey. The event changed the landscape, and as of now there is no accurate world map. Knowledge of geography is local, shared by word of mouth and by map scrolls, although those who draw these maps have dubious cartography skills at best. Most civilizations are small, in the hundreds. There are rare major holds whose populations edge into the thousands; these people had the fortune of being born in a safer, more prosperous part of the world. Others who did not have this fortune eek out a bleak existence, doing their best to merely survive with the lot they've been given. The dangers this world holds does not end with monsters; in fact, the environment itself is as dangerous, if not more so, than the flora and fauna. Dead zones, zones of high magic, and planar anomalies plague the landscape, among other things. What does this mean for you? This means that the riches of this world are ripe for the picking- if you're strong enough to handle it. There are monsters to fight, ruins to explore, and treasures to collect, if you can stay alive long enough.
