Bohnen

The Currency of the United Providences of Endevesten

The Bohnen, as it is called in The United Providences of Endevesten, is a system of fiat currency that is utilized in favor of allocating more precious resources, such as gold, silver, and electrum to other interests.    The Bohnen is a fiat currency, which means that in the UPE the materials of the Bohnen are not valuable, and serve no purpose as a raw material to the layperson, making it impractical to deconstruct a Bohnen into it's material parts. However, in order to serve on the global stage across Eoferan, the agreed value of the Bohnen is tied to the value of a single [Krobish Gold Piece], and the subdivisions therein.

Ubiquitous

The Bohnen is only agreed to as currency between the UPE, the Borealisian Commonwealth, and the Empire of Krober. However, it's value is recognized even in the empire that doesn't officially recognize the UPE, Loricanium. It may earn you some queer and quizzical looks, but a merchant knows coin that spends. It's also recognized by the Barzengian Trade Company, which as the unofficial trading arm of the Loricanian Empire, helps the Bohnen's recognition status. Rumor says, even in the far off of the colonies in Rubras, the semi-native halflings of Nyioria have learned about the trade of the coin, and themselves use what they can gather when trading with the Krober or the Colonists of Dulkunbu.

Denominations

The Bohnen is set in five denominations that are minted by the Endevesten Mint: The Zehnbohnen (10GPE), the Bohnen (1GPE), the Halber (.5gpe), the Zehntel (.10GPE), and the Hunderstel (.01GPE).

Manufacturing process

The slugs of arcanite are first cut to shape to fit their value, circles for the lowest value (.01 Gold Piece Equivalent (GPE)), and hexagons for the highest valued coin. (100GPE), then the cut slugs are heat treated through a magical process that makes them relatively robust and hardened. The colors of the crystals are not innate, so it is deposited for an unclear amount of time in various "Mana-Wells" of different magical schools in order to develop into the desired color.
After the blank slugs are dyed and cut, then the process of adding the filigree and other stylistic elements come into play, with a special spell that is taught to the workers of the Endevesten Mint, Shape Crystal. After the process of adding the filigree that establish the coin as it's value currency, the coin is then passed on to the defense department of the mint, where it is outfitted with various magical protections that prevent muddling with the coin and risking its market value. disenchantments, dispel magic fields, and disillusionment spells are baked into each slug before it begins it's life as a currency, and is discharged through the Endevesten banking systems via translocation circle.

The coins are made of 1 oz slugs of Arcanite , that has been, as odd as it is to describe, enchanted with a micro-dispel magic field around the coin itself to prevent arcane modification. The coins are colored and shaped based upon their relative value, with the highest being an amber colored crystal slug, and the lowest being a dull grey crystal slug.
