Voidwax

After harvesting honeycomb from a Voidbee hive, the wax requires a long process to properly render down and when finally in a wax state, is pale and almost lacking any color. Voidwax naturally has a translucent quality to it, and thin layers can even be entirely see-through.

Voidwax is flammable, although it has an incredibly high melting point. When it burns, it burns slowly, and for a long time.

Very few things bind with Voidwax in a way that greatly impacts them, although alchemists have discovered that a proper application can render a compound odorless and tasteless, a fact often used in the creation of medicines to avoid distasteful sensations keeping people from following treatment plans.

Voidwax is created by Voidbees, which have only been found within the Shaderoot on the continent of Endrun.

When the Shaderoot was created, all manner of plant and wildlife was altered by the surge of energy rushing out of the Shadowlands. One of the results from this eruption were what became known as Voidbees, near-invisible insects that lived within incredibly durable hives. With the knowledge that normal bees made honey, a brave soul wondered what Voidbees would make and retrieved a few hives to investigate. Voidwax was discovered to have similar properties to normal beeswax with enough peculiarities to make it worth harvesting and selling. Today, the city of Hush has a large grove where man-made hives filled with Voidbees are tended to, and they are the chief exporter of all Voidbee-related products.

Hush has the largest apiary within the Shaderoot and exports Voidwax across Endrun, finding great success within the markets of E'mlion. With the recent connection made between Endrun and Corindar, a few entrepreneurs have started sending shipments across the ocean and selling their homeland's unique products at a great markup. While not everything they offer is deemed worth the shipping costs, Voidwax and its many uses has become incredibly sought after by Corindites, especially by the fish-butchers of Jackdaw Port, who have been trying to integrate it into their profession to tackle the Butcher Bay's infamous stench.
