Dagenpeak

Occupied by the Dwarves since sometime near the beginning of the Age of Six, Dagenpeak is the largest settlement of their kind of Enos. Built in the massive interior chamber carved by the Great Wyrm Ovidian, the city hosts six districts built into the mountains surrounding the chamber, as well as a seventh district outside. The central chamber, named the Ovidian Halls, spans nearly half a mile at its largest point, and is crisscrossed by a dizzying array of bridges, atop which the largest of them host many houses, inns, and other enterprises. Large gems of great value hang above the main entrances from the Halls to the other districts, giving each of them their names. Non-Dwarven outsiders that need to travel to any other part of the city other than the Blue Sapphire District need a Dagenpeak Writ of Passage to go anywhere unsupervised, though members of the Centuri Security and its affiliated sister orginizations of the Esper Front and the Stewards are not subject to this restriction and may move about unimpeded, provided they are in uniform. A Writ of Passage can cost anywhere from five copper pieces to two-hundred gold pieces, depending on the level of access it grants.

The Black Sapphire District

The seat of the Dagenstone clan that rules the city, this district is the oldest addition to the Ovidian Halls, and the lowest of them. It hosts the main governmental buildings, the treasury of Dagenpeak, offices for Centuri Security and the Esper Front, as well as significant armories and training grounds for those Dwarves that choose to serve as the Blackguard, or the elite fighting force of the city. It is from here that Raenor Dagenstone has ruled for nearly fifty years, and it is from here that edicts that shape the future of his race are issued.

The Jacinth District

Located just above the Black Sapphire District, the Jacinth District serves as the main hub for mining due to its overabundance of ore deposits of all kinds. The Dagenstone Mining Company runs the district, helmed by its leader Jorma Dagenstone, the eldest daughter of Raenor. The district hosts dozens of smelters, refineries, minecart systems, and other tools needed for the transport and processing of raw materials. Naturally, many of the premier crafters practice their craft here, and some of the very best crafted works can be found in these halls.

The Diamond District

Called the 'glittering jewel undermountain,' the Diamond District is located above the Jacinth District. It is the section of the city most well- and deeply-carved into the mountain, and it houses the overwhelming majority of all the underground farms and aquifers that keep the city fed, watered, and self-sufficient. Massive enchanted stones, a gift from the Elves from ancient times, shed daylight in time with the natural day-night cycle. These stones, called Mohrtrest Suns, also provide heat for the district, making it a natural place to bake breads and raise livestock.

The Emerald District

Above the Jacinth District lies the Emerald District, which houses the overwhelming majority of the residences in which the populace of Dagenpeak live. From the lean-tos and ramshackle shacks of the Lost Quarter where the shunned non-Dwarves that have little to offer the city dwell, to the massive mansions built into the cavern walls in the Glittering Quarter, the district houses the best- and worst-off the city has, as well as everything in between.

The Blue Sapphire District

The main entrance to Dagenpeak lies in this district, which is just above the Emerald District. This district is home to many of the inns, bathhouses, hostels, and brothels in the city, together with massive trade-chambers full of vendors and hawkers of all sorts. The largest of the trade-chambers, called the Throne of the Voice, is where an adventurer might find any number of elite shops catering to specific magical needs. The artifice trade from Dagenpeak's port is processed through the Opal District above, so many of those items deemed 'fitting and proper' to be sold can be found here.   The Opal District This district is off-limits to anyone, Dwarves included, that does not have the proper stamp on their writ. It is here in the crown of the Ovidian Halls and chambers ringing it that the diplomats and important visitors stay. More importantly, the mages of the Stonefire Conclave handle the magic trade from Dagenpeak's ports, and keep a careful eye on the politics of the outside world through the Stonefire Eyes, a system of magical lenses that can look for hundreds of miles in any direction.
