The Crown of Zest
A dish spoken of in legends, a variety of stories can be found though out many cultures on every continent. The tails are many, the details change from culture to culture. But the stories are almost always the same that an explorer, a pilgrim, a holy person, or a mage. That is on a quest for knowledge or understating, suddenly finds them self coming though a mountain pass.
Entering out into this beautiful frost covered orchard, of tall slender trees nestled in the bottom of a mountain valley. With endless clear skies over the Mountain Ridgeline, and a brisk wind always sweeping though the orchard, seemingly with no source to it. Here the stories often starts to differ in many more varieties, that will file tomes by them self.
But as the stories almost never overlap, they do all agree on a few things.
- The Crown of zest is made with the rare arctic crown pomelo
- This is only found in the frost-kissed orchard blessed by the Steelmind her self
- And that this orchard can only be found, by the ones truly in need of it
For the dish itself, the most common arrangement, is that the whole fruit is used. It's hard nut like outer shell, the oil rich and strong pleasant smelling skin, and the tender flesh of this huge fruit.
The most agreed upon way to make it, is to break the outer shell in two. Gently pull the fruit from its cradle of the shell. Cut it in half, removing the skin fully in it now to halves. Cutting up the flesh of the fruit and placing it back into the two halves of the shell, that has now been heated in a fire. Then herbs, mushrooms and berries from the mountain valley vegetation is added to the shells to cock a stew like consistency. Where after the skin of the arctic crown pomelo is zested as finely as possible and preferably as freezing as the valley itself.
The legends tell of all kinds of effects, granted by this delightful dish. Again the stories does not all agree on the effect, but most mentions or suggest access to esoteric knowledge, a clearer mind, or wisdom that they did not posse before
