The Three Estates

During the times of Cylia, a caste system formed that underwent many changes over time and there are countless local alterations to it, yet they all consist of three estates.

The First Estate

This is the clerical estate, which everyone who directly serves a god or spreads their gospel falls into. They enjoy extensive freedoms and protections, yet should their deity be considered heretical by the local authority, they are considered to be caste-less, making it legal to kill them.
The upper class of this Estate is usually chosen from among the nobles of the Second Estate, yet there are no legal restrictions upon it.

The Second Estate

The Second Estate is the nobility aside from the monarch himself and is further divided into traditional nobility and administrative nobility, the latter of which was chosen from among the Burghers of the Third Estate and presented the only realistic way for someone to leave it.

The Third Estate

The Third Estate contain all that aren't contained in the first or second one and can further be divided into rural and urban. They were generally simply called commoners and had to do the hard manual labour while also being the ones suffering most under a plague or a food shortage.
