Raynar Lizard
A two-tailed lizard found in the Barren dunes. Ranging in size from 1 inch to around 8i nches, these lizards are unique in that they use a purring vibration to locate prey in the sand.
They are very quick, hunting insects, arachnids and other lizards. Anything that is small enough to be eaten.
They are incredibly hardy, absorbing water they need from the creatures they eat and can remain hidden in the sand for several weeks if no food presents itself.
When nests hatch, the lizards make their way to the surface, warm themselves, and practice their 'purr'. These en mass vibrations change the shape of dunes in nesting areas annually. It is a fantastic sight from afar, but quite dangerous up close due to the shifting sand.
The name comes from the ancient sand bedouins, who believed anyone who could catch and sacrifice 10 lizards in a day would be able to call upon the rain Gods for kind fortunes.
